To the People with overhead Rattle Issues
So I've been having this problem for over a year now. Over simple bumps, or rumble strips, my headliner rattles like crazy. At one point i put my hand between the headliner and the roof itself (car has sunroof) and the rattle stopped. So I stuffed it with a new sponge..lol and it worked. Now the rattle came back again and i decided to really look in there and i found that the headliner has plastic valcro attachment points and sure enough they were not attached. So i reattached the headliner with a gentle push and took out the ghetto sponge fix and now the car sounds solid as a rock. I have the eibach sport lines and last night driving home on the turnpike no more rattles!!!! Awesome. Woot just thought i should share this quick fix that took me a year to really look into.

I have an appointment at the dealer in two weeks as their top guy (He is on vacation) is going to pull the headliner down to see if the entire glass roof has to be replaced or if it is quick fix. (Hoping for the quick fix) He said the only had to do the entire roof once and it took them two weeks and about $10K (On Nissan)
My car has 1,200 miles.

Will do...and i dont have the glass panel roof i have the sv sport premium. Also it's super easy to see...open up the sunroof and pop your head through it...you will see the space between the roof and the liner.
With my car, all the velcro in the back was attached. The source of the rattle is from the front. Even with my sunglasses removed and holding the glasses door, I can still hear a lot going on when I tap the headliner near that section. Sponge idea sounds interesting.
I have a 2010 SV with the dual pane. I don't know if it is the same as your sound. It made a popping sound, similar to a busted ball joint, when going over certain bumps, and when the body was forced to flex a little over uneven terrain. I had the dealership look at it, they said a frame rail was cracked. According to the online parts finder from courtesy Nissan it was a $4700 part. They replaced it in one day, they said they had to drop the entire headliner and disassemble the moon roof, and now it sounds fine.

**BUT** the sponge idea worked like a charm lol, thanks for the idea.
My rattle / jiggle noise is right over my head in my 11 SV standard sunroof. maybe 2-3 inches from the edge by the door.
I swear it sounds like something slightly tacky, like the glue side of a velcro strip sticking and releasing from hard plastic. If I push up I can immediately cause it to stop. Frustrating.
I will take a closer look today.
As to the sunglass holder rattle? That is the sunglasses themselves vibrating in there. If I put my glasses in their wipebag or flip them over, rattle stops.

SERVICE BULLETIN FOR CRACKING/CREAKING DUAL MOON ROOF! NTB09-132
I have a 2009 Max fully loaded (thus, dual moon roof) that I first brought in back in early 2009 for the cracking sound issue. Of course the dealer said they couldn't reproduce it. I then brought it back in 6 months later and had the service rep ride around in the car with me...he confirmed that he heard it, but said, "Our Maxima guru isn't here today, so you'll have to come back." I was pissed. Anyway, I finally found time (after two new children and two house moves) to bring it in last week...and thank Gawd!...they now have an official Nissan service bulletin for it: NTB09-132
As a side note: there's also an official Nissan service bulletin for the steering column issue (the grinding issue when the column goes up/down on entry/exit): NTB09-094
Enjoy, everyone! whooo hoooo! I can now say that I love this car again (that moon roof sound was going to require me to sell it if they couldn't fix it).

help?
i hear the same rattling, but it only occurs when my sunroof is all the way open, so usually i will hold the button to halfway sloe the sunroof, i thought it was the sunroof and its hinges rattling from hanging when it is all the way back? if not , you mentioned it is jsut a few clips that need to be replaced?
This issue just started for me, My car has about 4500 miles.
It goes away when I open the sunroof shade.
I made a quick look and can't find the culprit, sound is coming from the passenger side headliner but I'm not sure exactly where.
I have to have someone take me for a ride to isolate it.
I'm trying my best to not just drive this POS off a cliff but it's getting harder everyday, lol

I have a '13 Premium and hear a popping sound on bumpy roads when weather is warmer. Very annoying. Also stops when roof open.
13MaximaSV: Do you have the dual panel sunroof? When does your noise occur?

I have the normal sunroof. It happens whenever I hit a bump if the shade is open. Odd part is pressing up on the shade ( while closed) doesn't seem to help and you would think that would prevent rattles
I noticed my 13 Sport w/Tech sunroof creaks as well when closed.
If I close the liner, the sound goes away (or at least I can't hear it). I've applied a little pressure to the sunroof and replicated the creak, only to have that temporarily 'fix' the problem.
It's off and on now, depending on the weather (and how loud I have the stereo ;-) ).
I haven't had time to take it in to the stealership, but when I do I will. Hopefully I'll be one of the lucky one's with a quick turnaround.
