So to summarize, I cracked the housing and went to town. Sanded, primed, and painted the housing pieces matte black on the trim and radiant silver on the smaller pieces. Tinted the amber reflector with 1 coat of nightshade and a few coats of clear - still reflects perfect. My original light mods were a custom Iron Man using fabricated 6k white LED's, a CCFL halo on the projector, and a color changing demon eye.

I updated this mod by retrofitting the high beam with a projector shroud, painting both the low and high beam shrouds matte black and upgraded the CCFL halo to dual Umnitza Orion V2 LED halos.

I pre-wired everything with wireless remotes, went outside and put it all in my car. Here are the results...

My wife says I never grew up, because I still love crayons and coloring books and really nice lights on my car.
I'm glad she is in the den, and can't see me slobbering over daniel's lights.

Awesome job btw.
Paint : dupli-color adhesion promoter, dupli-color high temp matte black, k12-radiant silver, VHT nightshades, dupli-color high temp clear, 3M scratch remover, microfiber rags for polishing

Lights : LEDs from Oznium, ordered the Superflux that were not pre-wired cause the pre-wired definitely do not fit, CCFL I got through a friend, resistors from Oznium

Wiring : soldering iron, solder, wires, heat shrink tubing, high temp epoxy

BTW....LOOKS SICCCCCK
thanks man, but honestly I don't think i can do a complete write-up it was an immense amount of work. most of it was just knowing how to solder and how to drill plastic without cracking which you can learn on Youtube or Google. the rest was just me messing around in MSPaint, seeing what looked good, and then test fitting everything on the shroud and seeing how it fit which I obviously needed the headlight cracked open for. I broke several LEDs in my test fitting and had to rework my project several times to get the wires/LEDs/resistors to fit, so it was definitely hard. if you dont know how to solder LED's and resistors then I'd stay away from this project until you learn - it was a ton of custom fabrication in regards to the lighting.

well i talked to a few other members to figure out how to crack the headlights, and learned how to paint using Youtube and testing on my engine bay panels last month. the rest was just me knowing how to solder and doing my best to make stuff fit in the tiny little projector we have. couldnt do a complete iron man all the way around, but i like mine i think it looks like angry eyes. i should have installed the CCFL tilted too so the dark part would match up with the dark part of the iron man...but oh well. it's not perfect but i think it turned out good enough for my first headlight project.

lots and lots of planning, close to 3 months of gathering materials and planning how everything would come together. wish it was as easy as saying "just buy this LED ring and glue it to the back of the projector" but it wasnt...was lots of soldering and cussing when things broke and re-soldering. lets just say im lucky i bought a few extra LED's.

working on it, my boy has one and should be coming over this weekend with his tripod cause he wants pics too, ill def post them up when i get em.

lol again I'd love to do a full write up but we're talking about documenting ~ 40+ hours of labor (yes 40+ maybe I'm slow but it took a LONG TIME). i did take pics the whole way through the project at different stages though (130+ pictures so def not posting them all here) so let me know if you want to see something specific

again thanks for all the props everyone - its cool having a mod that doesnt get the response "oh thats the BMW thing" or "oh thats the AUDI" thing. it gets a "where the hell did you buy those?" which is fun to respond to saying i made them.

-D
