damn and only S owners can do it cause everyone else's HVAC controls are down there...

this is awesome, and something like this would really bring up the value of the car when reselling time.

just the navigation function alone would be worthwhile, but u would need to tether the ipad to a 3g-4g cell phone wifi right ?

you could use the tether feature, but if you have the 3g version the wifi tether isnt necessary.

looks so clean! nissan should make that an optional add on

How is he getting the audio from the ipad to the aux? Do you think he has a 1/8" jack that also being connected?

I saw this done with the iPad 1 and a sixth gen but it wasn't as clean as this one. Great work.

the other cars I've seen with this use the Apple-specific adapter and have it on the left side of the dock so when you slide it in, it plugs in both charging it and connecting the audio. doesnt get any cleaner than this

Trust me, this would NOT raise the value of the car.

Yeah I agree, won't raise the value but definitely can be a bullet point when you go to sell it. Would easily make your Maxima stand out from others that were for sale, but only if you did a clean job like the one in the video.

That's hell of a mod here!

but, on a simpler way, for the SV owner with the gps and everything, would'nt it be possible to have some kind of dual boot for the main gps screen? Let say if you have no USB key or drive plugged in, it boots from the HDD of the car. Otherwise, if you have a usb key (32gb) plugged in, it would boot on a Android (don't know about screen resolution matching yet.... so which version 2.2 or Honeycomb...?). That would be just awsome. A good multimedia interface, with let say TOMTOM nav software (updated every 3 months..) and well.. you know! Anyone have ideas?

Yes. You're correct. I also remember seeing them in black. But you can always paint it yourself. It's really easy.

Raising the dead.....anyhow , wouldn't a galaxy tab 10.1 sitting flush between the two vents be a better look? I didn't like that they used an iPad and put it beneath the nav screen. (just my opinion). Galaxy offered so much more like widgets ,sd card and interface. And its cheaper. But that's a sexy black max. Hope samsung comes out with tablets built specifically for cars soon.
