Wiper Blade Stutter

My drivers side blade started stuttering from the middle of the blade to the far left . I was using the Bosch and replaced it with the Rain X thinking it was the blade but the same stuttering happens. Would adjusting the spring in some way fix this? The window is very clean and no streaking happens so not sure what might be causing this. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas?

Thanks,

Check to see where the arm is riveted down to the spring part if its loose. That might need to be replaced or tightened down by compressing the rivets again. Or might just need to be replaced.

you may have done this, but make sure your windshield is clean, very clean, as well as the blade itself as well.

I was wondering what people recommend for cleaning their windows. I have an issue where there is a haze that shows as the blade wipes the window. It is really annoying and I have tried everything shy of sandpaper.

Mine does the same thing, but I don't think anything of it. The drivers side wiper blade is massive. Without tension on the full length of the blade, any little amount of drag on a part of the blade surface touching the windshield will cause the thing to shimmy a bit as it goes across the glass.

Stoner brand "Invisible Glass" is one of my favorites. That, or a 50/50 blend of denatured alcohol and distilled water works great too.

I also use Stoner Invisible Glass. To really clean the the outer windshield I use RainX X-treme Clean. Seems to work really well.

I have had my '09 over two and a half years, and have never detected the slightest stuttering, unless I forget to turn the wipers off when the rain is over and the glass gets dry.

I'm still running OEM blades. Are you perhaps using a car wash (touchless or otherwise) that sprays a form of wax all over the car (including the windshield) after the wash cycle? Or maybe parking where some form of air pollution may reach the windshield? Or driving close behind traffic on a road made with petroleum products such as asphalt?

I try to avoid rush hour traffic, and try not to follow other traffic very closely, especially when the road is wet and the rear tires of the vehicle ahead are throwing up rooster tails of crud.

thanks for the responses. i do use stoner invisible glass so the window is generally very clean. i agree that this wiper is massive and am trying to ignore it but either i never noticed it or it just started a few months ago. will check on the spring and see if there is a way to adjust. wondering if trying an old fashioned wiper might make a difference.

As you seem to take care to clean your windscreen carefully, I doubt if this is the issue but the only time I've seen that in my 09 with the Bosch Icons is when I had a stone chip behind my mirror that I didn't notice right away. Otherwise, no issues here.
