I'm assuming he removed the 3rd brake light and reupholstered the rear dash package tray. To me, the fabric is a slight hint of a shade off in color, though. And personally, I'd prefer to keep the 3rd brake light w/all the idiots that get behind me on the local roadways

The purpose of this was because I put a factory spoiler with an integrated 3rd brake light so I had to remove the previous 3rd light. (which now became a 4th brake light) In VA it's illegal to have a 4th brake light.

That looks great! I just had my spoiler put on a week ago. I have ordered the '09 Third Brake Light delete plate. I'm hoping that it matches my interior because mines a '11. I will let you all know when I get it & post pics!

I installed the Delete Plate from the dealer. It was a very easy install & it doesn't look too bad. I paid $25 for it.

mstewart18,

would you be able to get a part number for that delete plate? I have called some Nissan Parts departments and they dont see any items like this in the system. I am putting my spoiler on this weekend and want to remove the 3rd brake light but would like to have a quick fix for the hole issue. thanks.

I will look at my receipt and see if it says it on there. The reason they can't find it for a '11 is because they only show that part for a '09 Maxima. I'm not sure why they only have the delete plate for that year but the color of my deck lid matches perfect with the delete plate so I don't think that it is a color matching issue...

999J1-MVPSG may be the part number. Problem is every Nissan place I call says the item has been discontinued and cant be ordered.

thanks. Just called that site and they are out of stock. Unfortunately, there a bunch of online sites that claim they have the part but every one I call to verify results in a out of stock reply.

Mine was P/N 999J1-MVPSC.... Yours was G instead of C. My dealer ordered this for me over the phone. I hope this helps!

Bought my 12 SV with black interior about two months ago now and the dealer installed a rear spoiler for me. I told them I wanted the third light removed. It's been discontinued. I had to wait 2 weeks for them to find one from a Nissan dealer in Kentucky.
Not sure if your going to find one, but as someone mentioned it's baically just a cover with the matching black felt on it. If you don't have any luck, all you need to do is go to like a Michaels craft store and get a piece of hard board and cover it with black felt to match the rear shelf and just use some 3M double sided tape and just stick in on.
I actually added some 3M double sided tape on mine because the clips didn't keep it in place when I would go over bumps. Came out fine.

Anyone know if a 3rd light brake cover (part # 999J1-MTPSG) from a 2007-2008 Maxima might fit on a 2011 Max? I cant seem to find any specifics on dimensions anywhere online. Thanks.

Did you end up trying the delete plate from a 2008? If so, did it work in your 7th gen? I was disappointed to find a big hole in the deck when I attempted to remove the 3rd brake light and was hoping I wouldn't have to manufacture a fix on my own...

Thanks

It did not work. I am working on creating a delete plate myself and using the clips off the 2008 one that I bought.

follow up

Just ordered 2 of these. Will post if they come in and are the correct part. Been looking for this delete plate for the back deck forever. If you are feeling lucky try and call one of these dealerships and see if they still have any available.

Part # 999J1-MVPSG (charcoal)

James Ceranti Nissan - MS -2 in stock
Bert Ogden Nissan- TX - 1 in stock
Tom Peacock Nissan - TX - 2 in stock

****Update****
Finally got the right part. I can now remove the mouse pad I had covering the hole from removing the 3rd brake light. Only took two years.

My local dealership parts guy was cool enough to research this and print me out the details. Good Luck!

Get creative and make a cover...an easy customize

jspagna posted a good idea cuz this cover is not easy to find. I took a similar approach. Loads of possibilities from a Michael's or other craft store. Since then I have replaced my custom cover with a speaker grille. No speaker there of course, but I like the look of the grille.
