2010 max navigation upgrade

My buddy just picked up a 2010 maxima without nav, but he was able to track down a complete factory nav with screen. Question is the wire harness, the plugs are different and from what he was told there is a adapter but no one seems to have information on where to get it. Any one here know of an adapter to put a factory navi in a car that came without? Thanks in advance

Dealers are always looking for a way not to honor the warranty, but from what i have heard dealers are actually adding the navi to cars that didnt have it. Its better to add it and sell a car thats in there present inventory vs ordering a car for a customer and holding the one they have.
Where did your buddy get the adapter and harness from?

2011 GPS install (JVC) in SV Sports Package

I thought of sharing this with everyone. I don't have access to start a new thread or add attachments. So if anyone wants a f***ing pdf with images and instructions, either give me access or go figure.

This DIY doesn't cut or splice any wires in the car. Everything is done via connectors. The idea is to put the the original unit back for lease return or warranty issues (if it comes to that).

The things I couldn't get to work:

1) The steering wheel PHONE buttons. The programming worked fine, but I think the JVC unit doesn't support phone operations via remote interface.

2) The steering wheel UP/DOWN button works for radio tuning and for SD card to |<< and >>| operations. However the JVC won't do a preset radio station change with these buttons.

3) I had to disconnect power to the factory bluetooth unit due to interference caused by that while talking handsfree on JVC. It was a real pain to do that thru the trunk.

4) I had to keep the factory satellite unit connected, otherwise the steering wheel buttons don't work.

So far, everything works great. The sound is awesome specially due to the EQ in JVC. The phone works good as well. The GPS signal comes quickly. The receiver runs kool as it only supplies via the preamp out (the bose amp puts out the power).

the op is talking about factory nav. not to complain, thanks for the effort, but those instructions are for an aftermarket JVC. I would imagine that the adapters probably aren't the same since your going from a factory to JVC in the instructions case and the OP is looking for factory to factory connection. Your best bet would be a wiring harness diagram, which can be found on nicoclub, i have a copy in my google docs. From there you can try and have a dealer find the correct part, or attempt to home fab an adaptor and see what is required. If you are confident/capable enough to mess with this, I would hope you can read a wiring diagram and hook it up. You can get two spare wiring plugs, one from the old unit and one from the new unit, then wire it up to connect what you can and then run new wires from there. This would be a HUGE PITA, but it is an option.
