some high resolution photos
there are no spacers.
It was chosen because there isn't much to choose from in the aftermarket offerings. I'm not into the fake multi piece look and I've done the big fat deep dish multi piece forged wheel thingy to.
As you know some 20" designs look very tiny on the a35, so to keep it in the 20" range and to make it as big as visually possible, I had to go with with a monoblock look. Monoblock usually adds about an inch visually compared to a multi piece look. A 20" mono will look about as big as a 21" multi because in many cases the spoke extends all the way out to the rim edge.
Among wheel aficionados, the m6 style is a very well respected design. The replica styles were extremely popular back starting back in 2007. A lot of 3, 5 series owners were sporting them. It was so popular that even VIPCAR owners, infiniti G, nissan Z owners, and lexus owners were throwing them into the mix as well. So popular that they would throw 1 inch thick spacers in between just to convert the bolt pattern and chop up their fenders.....all to get this particularstyle wheel in there.
also they only weigh 28-29 lbs, I actually put them up on a weight measure myself. For a cast 20" that's not bad. There are a lot of 18" wheels that weight 28 lbs!
