Custom Paint on Maxima??
Custom Paint on Maxima??
Hey guys, I'm kinda new to this site and I have a 2010 Maxima S in dark blue. I love the car, but I'm not a big fan of the color. I want to get the car painted but I dont know which color would look good. I want like a dark purple/black or maybe even white. Something that looks nice. I was just wondering what you guys would suggest, anything is helpful. Thanks!
Also, anyone know of any good paint shops in Chicago or Chicagoland?

Not to jump all over your case, but I gotta know, what on earth was so special about this max that you had to buy it in a color you do not like, when there are a lot of Max's for sale. BTW a good quality, "Custom Paint" will cost you upwards of 6 grand. It involves complete disassembly and reassembly of the car. White, black and silver seem to be the most popular colors, all three look good on a Max. In the end it all comes down to what color you like. If you do decide to repaint, then do your researching. Get references from people who have had their paint job for at least three years. The paint on you car is the first thing you notice when you see it so if it is a great job you will smile, anything less you will hate it.
Good luck.
Good luck.

well its not that i dont like the color, i would just prefer another color and theres little scratches and scrapes all over, i want to get it repainted. my old car, a civic, got totaled in an accident, and I needed a car asap, the maxima was only $21 grand and ive always wanted a maxima. I really really like the crimson black actually, do you think the dealership would paint it for me? i trust them but it would probably be expensive.
And so you decided to buy a car with your less favorite color
I don't understand why paint a car that's 2-3 years old? I'm pretty sure your body paint is in way better condition than mine.

i still think it looks beautiful though
yeah, thats true too, i was looking through the forums and thought about modding it instead. I'm leaving for Basic Training next month but when I get back, I'll start with the Megan Racing Exhaust probably and see if I still want the paint job. My boss told me aftermarket paint jobs make the car lose value, dont wanna do that now

Well if you have the money for it, go paint it. But if I was in your position, I'd keep the paint and spend the money on mods instead. I seldom see a modded dark blue Maxima on this forums so why not be the first. Paint can go for 4 grand or more. Why not use the 4 grand to make your Maxima unique in a modded way. Just my 2 cents.
If you really want/NEED to paint it, the latter I highly doubt (even if you have scratches/swirls) go with the Crimson Nissan color otherwise you will kill the value of your Max big time, seriously, a car that new, (re)paint it a factory color if you must!
Personally, big waste to paint it, now and (even in a few years) But to each their own, I guess. Just leave it now and wait 'til you have more time to think & do (more) things w/ it and let's go from there. Hold off, bud!
yeah, thanks for the help. You're probably right, and the color has been growing on me, especially since the only other blue Maxima I've seen was in Detroit. I shall be a one man wolf pack

Well put. I have had a few cars painted in my 63 years of driving, and I must say I was never completely satisfied with the repaint. Some were garbage within a year, while the more expensive ones lasted several years.
To truly have a OEM quality paint job done correctly will run between $5k and $7K. Others here may think otherwise, but $2K to $4K paint jobs usually are done without completely disassembling the car, often need repainting in five years or so, and detract greatly from any resale value of the car.
Had I not been living in the miserable heat of south Georgia, I might well have selected blue for the color of my Maxima. The blue used on the Maxima is a very attractive color.
