Pull trigger on new Maxima??

I am about 99% sure I am going to trade my 2009 F150 super crew 4x4 on a '12 maxima this week. Looking at a grey SV sport Tech package I think it is. Never have use for the truck and it gets about 13-15 mpg fuel milage and is just too big for my use for it other than occasional off roading about once per year.

Congrats on making that decision, you wont regret getting into a 7th gen maxima. especially the sport+ tech.... If you are buying it brand new of the lot remeber that the sport + tech lacks the panaromic roof, fold down rear seats, rear sunshade, and cooling on the driver side seat, and controls at the rear center console..... But you gain a lot too.... like 19" wheels, spoiler, paddle shifters and other goodies..... Just throwing that out there so later you wont have headaches.... Again regardless on what you choose you wont regret driving and keeping the car....

AND BTW HOW THE HECK DID YOU START A THREAD WITH ONLY 1 POST

Thanks for the replies. I dont really care for the panaramic roof or folding seats. I really would like the cooled seats bc I have them now. But oh well. I won't miss them too much. I'll get the windows at 10-15% and be good anyway. Think I am picking it up this friday! I can hardly wait. I will def be hanging around this forum. I am addicted to them.

It's a sweet ride however you won't gain much in fuel mileage!! I get about 17-18 mpg around town!!

Yeah man, I was in sort of the same situation. I had a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 that I was pimpin out. I moved into my home that was 1 hour from job and yeah....truck had to go after I figured I was paying $700 in gas a month! That was hurting to say the least. Got a 2010 Nissan Maxima and eventually moved to somewhere where the job is only twenty minutes away...now I'm filling up maybe a week and a half with the Max oppose to every 3-4 days with the truck!

I just got a f150 super crew 4x4 with the ecoboost. Fast as hell for a big heavy truck. I believe spec 0-60 is 6.4. The truck almost gets as good gas mpg then my max
Max is 20 mpg around town and the truck is 17 and takes 87 oct. so not a big difference.

Another note
For me the max is 600 more a year in insurance because of theft and collision. So I believe the gas is not a factor

Size is- the truck is a pita in parking spots
All in all can't go wrong with the mighty max!

Thats sweet milage for a 4X4 truck but awful insurance rates for the Max. I pay 439 per year for full coverage for my Max.

Why not wait and see what Nissan does with the 2013 Maxima?
If it's not to your liking there still should be 2012's available.

The 2013 will look exactly like the 2012.

To the guy getting the low mileage. My 2010 bought new is averaging 26.3 for all driving! (70 road/30 % town) I keep a light foot and now mpg is far better than mph! On the road I have seen north of 30 MPG! My only mod is to change to a K/N air filter. Anyone else getting this kind of mpg? I don't think it is extra ordinary.

good luck!

People with a heavy foot will complain, keep it under 2k rpm's and It will feel like the gas gauge never moves.

From my experience, the difference on street vs freeway is huge. I once got 500 miles per tank goin to vegas.

But the mpg drops drastically when just driving on city streets.

If u going to get the max get it now because they get cheaper as gas prices go up. Id stick to a used one since the price drops a lot when used.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I ended up stopping by last night and drove home in a new '12 SV with sport tech. packageI was looking at. Wasn't expecting to do that when i stopped. Slate grey I think or something like that. Drives and rides great. I think i will enjoy it much more than the truck. Although its not my daily driver so I didn't really need to do it because of gas. But it was a good excuse. haha. I have an 03 civic that gets about 34 mpg around town.

And googus I haven't ever tried the new ecoboost out but know a lot of folks like them. I just don't think I could have a truck that big with a v6 in it.

Congrats!!

My V 6 is rated to pull 11300lbs better than most big block and diesels Awh did I mention it rips in the 0-60 times

4 something a year for full coverage? Crap I am over 40 without a ticket in 20years with a mutiline discount from state farm and pay 900 a year.
Are you sure that's not a 6 month premium- crap I pay more for my bike and jet ski on different policies.

You should be able to sell that truck and come out much better than a trade in..trucks like that hold value well and are always in high demand.

Congrats on the decision!!

Nope 439 a year through Farmers Insurance. I have multi car discount and insure my home also. No accidents or tickets. Insurance even went down 35 dollars this premium period.

Oh ya, I know they pull great and are pretty fast for a truck that size. I had the old 5.4 in mine. I would love to try out that new 6.2 or whatever it is in the new Raptor. That is one sweet truck!

I was shocked when my rate DROPPED from around 80 to 70 per monthen when switching from a 2004 maxima to a 2010 Camaro SS, the Maxima is THAT expensive to insure? Im still a bit confused but im not going to say anything!
