hello everyone just joined the forum to get all of your, hopefully, un-biased opinion on 09 and up maximas. im looking to get into an sv model white or the nice tech gray color. (not sure of actual color name). i currently have an 03 chevy diesel that im getting tired of spending $200+ a week on fuel, but ive also got accustomed to the "pep" that diesels do have. it will be tough for me to switch i think but i really need to cut down fuel cost, and really the only vehicle i like the looks of that is a sedan is a maxima. (have a kid to tote around so full size sedan in favorite option)
have you guys had any issues or has there been common issues with this generation of maximas? CVT holds up fine? (had an '04 murano in the past loved the cvt) what price range do you think i should be able to get a loaded sv model with leass than 40k on the clock?
thank you for any input fellas, hope to learn alot on here as i have in other forums.
i guess ill post a couple pics of what im getting rid of to switch to maxima big jump for me lol. sorry for rambling on.

i went from a from a long line of very torquey vehicles to the maxima, and im not gonna lie, you DO miss it. this is my second maxima, i had a 5.5 gen years ago, and this car is head and shoulders above that one, especially interior wise. ive only had mine for less than 2 weeks but i have to say im happy with my purchase. im not sure how much different feature wise the 09s were from the 12s. I can tell you tho i actually chose the maxima over a G37. It just had things i preferred, like the more comfortable cooled seat, the dual sunroofs, and the overall look was just better IMO, but you sacrifice the performance.
I think its a great car that youll be happy with, and if you like modding there are a lot of good guys on here that are really trying to kick start the aftermarket scene.

thanks for the input man, kind of scared someone might say ill miss the torque lol. i think ill miss the whistle of the turbo the most, but really its something i need to do. fuel and maintenance costs just aren't even worth it for diesels anymore with it being at such a high cost compared to gas engines.
i have to disagree completely (respectfully). as far as pep, those towing trucks cant match the accelleration of the 7th gen max. just research it, you can find accelleration tests on any vehicle out there. having owned three chevy trucks, 6.0 diesel, 6.6, and a 5.3, and i have a 2011 max, (had two of them last year in fact), i guarantee you will be in for a suprise. you should go test drive one. as far as creature comforts, you can get a base model max which comes nicely equipped, or go for the gusto with the SV. my wife picked hers up with everything exept nav and sport package for 31k brand new. she has fun driving and still averages around 24.5 mpg

notice the lack of posts on here regarding mechanical breakdowns. this car holds up very well. seems like the 09's have less issues than the newer ones, but i could be mistaken. i think you'd be very happy with a newer Max unless you absolutely have to feel the change in gears when you shift.
Have a 2010 S, no real issues yet (the factory battery didn't last very long however, about a year and a half). CVT is really responsive and I'm happy with the car's performance over all.
Nice truck! $200+ on fuel hurts my wallet just thinking of it though =/

Have 20k on my 2009 SV Sport and have enjoyed every minute with this car. One of the better purchases I've made in terms of a car. I'm actually considering trading it in within the next few months, but ideally I'd love to trade for a NEW one! It's really that great car. I would suggest getting tech package/nav etc, it's something I passed on, and ever since I wished I had got one with it.
Keep the Truck, by a Maxima!
I have an 03 GMC Diesel with a tuner, big exhaust. Doesn't excellerate like the max? Let me turn the tune up and spool it!
You will miss the torque of the truck. You won't miss the fuel bill! If you don't tow with it, get a Maxima.
I have read about more issues with the 09 than the others, like the electric Tilt/telescope, rocking drivers seat (test drove one with that problem), and a few others but nothing that scared me that much. Love my 2011.
Sport will have a rougher ride, Premium gets you better leather and the glass roof/double moon roof.
Plenty of Maximas out there with 40K miles and different options from $24K to $ 30K.
Good luck!

OP, i should have clarified...
stock for stock the maxima will always out run the truck.
anything can be made faster, of course, with mods and tuning.
trucks are nice if you like people calling you to help them move, and good for raping your wallet at the gas / diesel pump. sold all my trucks and never looked back!

well duh, of course not! if it could it would look pretty silly anyway!all depends on what suits the OP's needs. keeping the truck and buying the max would be ideal, but not everyone has room in the stable for three or more vehicles.
