Surface Scratches

I just got a Maxima about 6 weeks ago brand new. Just this morning, I noticed surface scratches underneath the door handle on both the drivers side and rear drivers side handle. I have no idea how this could have happened but know that it's driving me crazy as I try to take excellent care of the car. Is there a good quality product that can be used to gently rub out those scratches or is it better to take it to a detailing shop and have them buff out the scratches using a good wax and/or polish.

Also, I'm wondering what everyone uses for cleaning products for the interior of the car and for the leather seats. I tried to search some previous threads but could really only find info for products to wash and wax the outside. Thanks everyone!

Anyone???? Has anyone heard if the Scratch X product by Meguiars is effective? I'm thinking about trying that.

scratch-x or meguiar's ultimate compound are both nice, may be a hard area to get to though. mine has a little of that too

Ya that stinks, after I bought my black max a Nissan autobody repair guy told me our cars have one of the softest clearcoats. If I knew that I would have bought white!

That's funny that you say that because I struggled with the decision on color. I had a 2006 in Winter Frost and wanted to do the Premium package in white as well. I ended up going with Silver to stay with a lighter color and do something different. I wish I would have stuck with white.

Make sure your girl/wife is not messing up the passenger side. My old car was demolished from her rings. I put 3m stuff behond the handles on this one...

And yes it is VERY soft. If you take your finger and slide it on the paint, you can see tiny scratches left behind. Keep a few coats of wax on it at all times.

No doubt and no argument the dark colors are much more work.
But really? What other type of (similarly priced) black cars would not have the same issue?
And the very reason the Winter frost or Sliver or whatever light paint colors won't quite POP like my C.B. and others OP's here is because it's easy for some not to see it and spend that extra time on those nasty clear coat swirls.
Just like the dark colors....they are still there my good friend.

Yes this is VERY common it comes from women and their rings. Can be removed by putting compound on a microfiber cloth and using your finger to rub it on then finish it off with polish. They also have a product like clear bras that are put on hoods and side view mirrors. It goes right behind the door handles. Im getting them put on mine soon. Its one of the smartest ideas in my opinion. Good luck!

My favorite polish to use in tough ro reach areas like that where I can't use a DA Polisher would be XMT 360.
