Accessing low beam

So my driver side low beam (HID) has been flickering off lately on bumps. At first it would do so rarely but lately I'm doing the on-off switching too often and seems like any smaller bump causes it to turn off... For some reason the bigger nastier ones don't. Anyway... I went to check the connections, as I'm pretty sure this is the culprit and found out that I can't access the damn bulb.

The grey plastic cover over it, whatever that thing is, doesn't seem to want to come off... Am I wrong for thinking the bulb is behind it? I don't think so but who knows. I turned it a little counter clockwise (open) but it still doesn't come off and I'm scared to pull on it too hard as I don't want to break it.

Anyone have any tips for me? I'd really rather not go to the shop as this is something silly but I can't seem to get access to the friggin' thing.

you're doing it right, it twists and then pops out. its VERY firmly set in there but shouldnt take too much effort to pop out. most of the effort is just getting it to twist all the way

Yep got it off, actually I think I go it off twisting it the wrong way lol.

Now I can't get the bulb out, not sure which way to push those clips in the there, it doesn't seem to just twist and come out like usual.

theres two metal pins at the top, you pinch together and push backwards to release, then pull towards you while still pinched and it brings the bulb out with it. if the bulb isnt the issue and its a connection to the ballast or the ballast itself you gotta take the whole headlight out to get to that.

Thanks man! I tried with those pins but I'm always scared to break something haha. Will give it another go. I really hope it's not the connection to the ballast but with my luck it probably is!
