Nav screen quit
Nav screen quit
Went to leave out today and no nav screen, totally dark, so tried to flip flop to different things, radio screen, bluetooth, info. still nothing. so called the dealer and they said did you turn it off..... duh.. didnt know you could turn it off. (there is a off button on the day/nite button. says off) so turned it on and waaaalaaaaaaaaaaa it works, BUT.. the thing i am afraid of is that the screen is eventually going to quit, what i had was a totally black screen, and nothing at all, the sound side was ok... the radio, bluetooth all was working on BUT after it started to work, playing with it by turning it off, the clock was in the corner which it wasnt before and using the bluetooth with the screen off the menu bars come up (which they didnt do that before) However, if the dang thing quits working altogeather i be that is at least a $800 repair, hope it dies before the warranty.. another 18 months...
don't over react to what ifs, my 06 Max I put 65k on and most of that mileage was during home appraisals driving around Jersey, I probably turned my car on and off about 15-20 times daily, on some days more, and put hundred of addresses in the nav, never had any issues with the car except the battery died in the shop rite parking lot 10 minutes from home
sonomomamax - I am no nav system expert. I do have the nav in my '09 Maxima, but do not use it in the manner most folks do. I use the maps almost the entire time I am in the car, am constantly changing the scale of the maps and changing between 'plan' (map) view and 'bird's eye' view, and searching for gas stations or restaurants, etc, but seldom use my nav for setting routes.
Not knowing your full situation, I am guessing you are hitting some of the same things I often did early on, and am still doing on occasion, which is pushing the wrong button, either through accident or through not fully understanding how the system works. Sometimes it takes awhile to get everything working again, but eventually everything does work.
It seems there are a million facets to this nav, and sometimes it makes me wish I was back in the 1940s using my trusty old Kueffel & Esser slide rule. At least I understood how that thing worked.
In a nutshell, nothing you said gave me the impression your nav was truly about to crash. I think it will be fine. But then nothing is guaranteed . . .
