What would be real nice is making the switch to a 3.7 rear wheel. I'd definitely scoop that up.

That would be nice, but the G37 already has that layout, a slightly larger sedan with the 3.7 and rwd/awd would be nice, but considering the Maxima has always kinda been in its own class, I think where it overlaps with the Avalon/TL/300/etc... we may see a slightly larger 8th Gen with a 3.5L V6 fwd and or a hybrid configuration, maybe a diesel option, cause that was in the 7th gen plans but got dropped

A 8th gen that ends up with Infiniti sheet metal would be awesome

STARR is correct that going RWD and 3.7 with the Maxima is treading on the G37, and Nissan would never consider doing that. The G37 already has enough competition from other manufacturers.

One reason the Maxima is FWD is because FWD is generally safer than RWD, especially in inclimate weather, and Nissan markets the Maxima as a sporty upscale FAMILY sedan. Yes, they mention '4DSC', but, although the Maxima is certainly no slouch, we sort of understand the '4DSC' thing is a marketing ploy.
