New Owners with Vibration issue

Hey guys,

So i'm in my new Maxima now for the past week, and am noticing a slight vibration at about 80-100km/h. I am pretty sure it is a tire issue, either flat spot from being on the lot, or balancing issue. I'm thinking more along the lines of balancing issue because ony 1 out of the 4 wheels actually have wheel weights ont them. I have a feeling that they forgot to balance the other wheels at the factory. Has anyone else experienced any issues like this when they bought their vehicles?

Nah dude. Take it back right away. No reason that car should be doing that already.

That is strange. I don't blame you for taking it back.

The Tires on the Sport Pkg 19's are Good Year Eagle RS-A's...which also apparently suck from previous reviews. But ya, we'll see tonight what the dealer says.

So it's definatley a balancing issue. Dealership rebalanced it yesterday, it's a lot better, however still has a very slight vibration. I mean i can be too picky, i don't think anyone else would really notice it. My wife say's it's fine.....but know it's there. They also told me the 245/40/19 will be almost impossible to make perfect and it's quite acceptable to have some feeling. I'm still not convinced.

I'm going to give it a week to see if it get's any better. I do think these tires need the special Road Force Balancing machine. My dealer doesn't have this machine onsite, but they have another facility that they can take it to. I just got off the phone, and he's documented everything. I told him i'd drive if for a week, and if it doesn't smooth out, i want to look at the Road Force balancing. So far dealer is being quite good to me...hope they keep it up.

Ya the Goodyear Eagles do suck. Wish Nissan would not have cheaped out on tires on these cars. My sister had them on her Infiniti G35X and they didn't last long at all. She had air leak problems as well.

Sounds like my issues. Everyone who rode in the car couldn't "feel" it, but I knew it was there. Told them I know they think I'm crazy and knit-picking, but if I can feel vibrations around 60-70 range then something had to give since that is around the limits and where I drive. The aftermarket rims/tires/springs helped some, but they finally got a road force balance machine in and I had them do that about 1.5 months ago. I have had a much better ride since then.

Nissan replaced my RSA's with Michelins.

I have a new 2012 S model with vibration from 70 mph on. After rebalancing and replacing the back two RSAs with new RSA's with no affect the dealer had the Regional Mfg Representative drive it when he was making his rounds here. The Rep replaced all my RSA's with Primacy MXV4s. Vibration gone. Great tires. Not allowed to post attachments or I would post the no charge invoice and a picture of my max with the new Primacys.

Stay with the dealer and let them work the problem, be firm but polite.

P.S. I did post the pictures in my album for "Tennesseeart"

Thanks for the response. And I do plan to be firm and very polite. I have Read some poor reviews on these tires. I'm hoping the dealer will be fair. I'm asking to have them road force balanced first which I don't think is too much to ask for. If it does not solve the problem, then it very well could be a tire issue. I'll keep you guys posted

The Michelins work. I suspect if one got a good set of RSA's then you would not feel the vibration we are talking about.

Before leaving the subject, I found that lowering the pressure on the Michelins three or more pounds to make the ride even smoother, like one might do in standard profile tires, actually made it the ride worse and this was true of the RSA's also btw. But, if you inflate the Michelins to the 33 lbs (cold tire) specified by Nissan, no more and no less, then she rides as smooth as can be possible on low profile tires and handling and steering are the best possible on the Max, which is quite good.

Now, the vibration is gone but of course the road feel is still there and that is a good thing. This "road feel" is what is "inherent in the maxima" and what some dealers, including mine, initially think you are discussing when you complain about "vibrations" from the RSA's, they think you are simply not used to the enhanced road feel inherent in any low profile tire coupled with a high performance suspension, like the Maxima, and don't realize you are discussing a high frequency vibration felt in the seat and pedals in steering wheel and seen in an overly vibrating passenger seat.

Fortunately the manufacturing rep in this area drove the car and recognized the RSAs were not working for my Max and swapped them out for Michelins.
