Possible to add Navi to a non-Navi Maxima?

Hello all,

I bought a 2010 Maxima SV w/ sport package back in May of this year. It has the technology package so it has the color screen with the reverse camera, but it does not have navigation.

Is it possible to add navigation now? I'm sure it involves changing out the LCD screen

I could possibly have my terms mixed up...but I think what you have is the monitor package...and you need the technology package. As for being able to add that in after the fact...I cannot comment.

Maybe try this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OCG-5002-Rad...eda9d9&vxp=mtr

I bet an oem nav radio would cost close to $1,000 plus install, plus any miscellaneous parts. Or go aftermarket or portable.

I hardwired a Garmin to my left vent. I can't see any advantage to bothering with the factory system for that kind of money.

Has it been confimed...or does anybody know for sure if the ^^^ above unit WOULD WORK in the 7th gen Maxima's sold in the US?

I remember there was another thread which posted a link to this unit but no one was sure it would work or if I'm not mistaken there was something about this unit that wasn't compatible with the US Maxima's. All the posters in that thread were scared/hesitant to pull the trigger on purchasing one of these. At the time I think that thread demonstrated that this unit wouldn't solve this problem.

Has some sort of breakthru takin place with this unit? If this unit actually worked I'd buy one in a HEARTBEAT. I have a 2009 Max with the amber orange screen/no navi/no backup camera/no USB for Ipod. Also does this unit have text display (Artist/Song Title) ??

I want the Navi/color display/backup camera so bad but I want it factory.
Almost too good to be true. Anybody know anything?

There are advantages. Perhaps not for you...

It provides the stock OEM look, and is less of a theft target IMHO. Anything aftermarket seems like more of a target as it's got a larger market for resale.

I do miss my Garmin though. As a GPS device, it makes the built in one look pretty dumb...though there are several tricks that the built in has which are lacking from my $250 Garmin. I wish Garmin did the Nissan Nav system.

^Take that money you'd spend on one of those plus labor and trade up to a Nav Maxima.
