Think I am moving on soon.
Ok so what a crazy day. its starts by me deciding to take my car to a local shop to get the suggested flush to see if that would fix my check engine light. One of the ideas was that something was interfering with a crankshaft sensor and doing a flush would fix the issue. So I go, get that done and get an oil change, cross my fingers and hit the road. I spent about 45 minutes running some errands and the light did not come back on, after leaving the dealership the other day it came back on within like 5 minutes, so think that was fixed!
So I decided I was going to give the fusion another chance after my initial test of the lower level SE with the 2.5L engine. So looking around online last night I saw that a couple dealers were showing titanium AWD in stock. This is the model I was planning on purchasing so figured I would go take a test drive so I could get a better feel for the higher end engine. It has a 1.6L 250 or so hp ecoboost engine.
So they had a black AWD titanium with just the 19" wheels. That is pretty much the car I was interested in. If I ordered I might have ordered a sunroof and lane assist package, but they were not must haves. The color is nice, its not just a straight black but has flecks of other colors in it, looks great in sunlight. Took the car for a drive and it is a big improvement over the base engine. Much closer to my 09 max, and close enough that I did not feel like I was giving up too much in the performance area. Seats aren't bad, still trying to get them just right, the sound system is excellent. MUCH better than the one in the max.
So anyway I honestly had zero intentions on buying. I usually sit down, research everything to death, go over 50 different scenarios, etc because I hate making big purchases and always feel like no matter what I am getting a bad deal
. So I told them I was going to trade the max, and expected to get at least 15k for it, I would have been happy with that number. It has 68k on it, so thats a lot of miles for an 09, it has some dings, scratches, not a completely clean car in other words, though I have done my best to maintain it well. The salesman comes back with 21k offer for the max?! I was like really, whats the catch? Now the price of the car, was not the best I feel I could have done, about 1k over invoice, but then I got the 1K incentive as well and along with what I thought was a really very good offer on the trade, the entire deal was a lot better than I was even remotely expecting to get. Either someone there must have wanted the max or they already had someone they knew would be interested, but whatever, I signed and drove it home today!. less then 3 hrs in and out with a new car. Never done that in my life. Very excited and have lots of reading to do, need to figure out this mytouch thing.
So my max adventure ends. It will always be a special car to me, loved owning it. Maybe I will be back in a few years when they come out with the next generation. I am sure I will still poke around these forums and there are some good people here. Off to play with my new toy.
