Getting a set of G37 sports 19" wheels today

So I am getting a set of G37 sports wheels today and I was wondering if the wheels comes with TPMS, will they be regonize by my 7th gen Maxima's computer? or I need to take they to the dealership or tire shop to have the TPMS reset to work?? Any input will be greatly appreciated

Where are you getting them from? A stock G37 has the TMPS in its wheels, but if your buying them from someone, make sure they didnt take them out. And they TMPS should be readable by your car, but im not sure if you have to scan or relearn them. it shouldnt be expensive tho.

You'll have to relearn them basically by the dealer. Also make sure whomever ur buying em from hasn't taken em out

yeah like these guys said make sure the previous owner didnt take them out, and yes they'll need to be re-synced with your car. dealership usually charges a half hour of labor to do that

Ok, so I got the wheels and here are my impression so far:
  • The old- stock 18" wheels with 245/45/18 tires
  • The new-G37 sports wheels with 245/35/19F & 285/30/19R, painted bronze by previous owner(crappy paint job though)
  • First thing I've noticed was the vibration from the rd, I was told that the tires were balanced so i am not sure if the vibration is due to the tires been so thin and it's sensitive to road.
  • The car for sure looks alot better now but the wheel gap has increased due to the thinner tires. The gap is so big, I feel like i am driving a SUV, ha. Now I do plan on dropping the car in the future but for now, I will get some 245/45/19F and 275/40/19R to fix the problem.
  • The rear wheels are flushed very nicely with the fenders but the front is tug in a little more than I hoped. May be a set of different tires with different side wall design will help some.

For the fronts, I would go with a 245/40/19 to keep the speedometer more accurate. Not sure what the rear should be, but it will likely be the 30 or 35 profile. Go to the wheel section and there is a tire size calculator. Play around with that to find out what keeps the diameter tire the same as the front.

PS - I like the wheels and the color on your car. Once to drop it, it will look great!

245/40/19 is the size I probably will go with and change out the fat 285 in the back to 275.

Btw, this might be a stupid question but do I need a alignment after swapping the wheels?

Looks like 245/40/19 will be within 0.1%

For the rear, it looks like a 275/35/19 will be your best bet at -0.4%.

Putting new wheels on your car doesnt affect the alignment. However when you get new tires, I would suggest getting an alignment to make sure they wear properly. Your best bet is to get a 3-year or 5-year plan (or lifetime) depending on how long you plan on keeping your car at NTB or a similar shop. That way you can take it in when ever you feel like getting it checked and adjusted without having to worry about the extra cost.

Even if I get different tires & different wheels down the road?

You'll have to check the actual plan at the store, but I believe its typically for the life of the car.....regardless of what wheels/tires are on it.

But like I said, ask the question when you purchase the plan.

the problem with 19" and the maxima a35 chasis is that to remain within factory diameter specs, you have to run 40 series, such as 245 40 19, or 275 35 19.

If you have priced those sizes out, you'll realize that they cost about 200 to 250 each even for generic brands.Your looking at 1000 dollars just for tires, not including mount, balancing and tax.

it's in your best interest to move up to 20" because all you need is a 245 35 20 size tire to remain withiin factory diameter specs. The size 245 35 20 is very plentiful the market, they can be had for as low as 90 to 100 bux. Your looking at 400 a set vs 1000 a set every single time you replace tires.
