Best way and cheapest way to gain at least 30-50hp
The HP you are talking about resides in other vehicles.
In my humble opinion if you want to spend money on this car it's stuff like wheels, tires, handling, and other mods that will bring the most satisfaction.
From what I have read (pretty minimal), the only significant HP gain mods are the CXJ intake spacers and exhaust.
Supposedly those are about 10 hp each maximum so maybe a total of 20hp gain if you are lucky.

there are no cheap easy ways to gain that kind of HP with this car; you can do full bolt-ons, spacer kit, pulley, get a tune (and all of this would be a few grand later) and see some gains but nobody has done any kind of comparison to know what the gains were plus CVT dynos arent the best at telling us max WHP. i wont lie to you, if you're looking to mod this car for speed you're going to get frustrated when you see the lack of aftermarket support that is available...
And where exactly do you expect to use that extra 30-50hp? Are you going to the Track?? IMO, 290hp is plenty for city streets. Visual mods i can see you spending some money, but for Performance, you should have bought a G37 or 370Z.
There are some mods out there...Car is decently quick without mods. My new car will be performance based..probably a 370z.
I am on some of my last few performance mod purchases and I can honestly say my car does go quicker with the mods I have bought, but in the end..the car is quick stock.
It's a beautiful car..Cosmetic Mods are probably Ideal - Tints, Rims, Calipers, Suspension..Etc..etc!

This isn't the car to easily boost power performance. As others have said, the aftermarket parts are geared towards aesthetics, not performance. If you're looking for performance, get the CTS-V - my next move!
You guys are too nice spoon feeding this guy with 1 post all of this info.

dont get me wrong it is a fun car to mod, and when you give it a little more power it makes it all that much more fun to drive. but like i said it will be a frustrating process; the only headers/hfcs ever made for this car were custom and never made again. as a DD that you want to have some fun with, the Maxima is perfect. if I got a weekend car as a toy I'd keep the Maxima for commuting cause it's a great car; just not a race car..
