Best tires !

So my back tires are pretty worn out. Their 20x10.5 in the back. Figure I'm gunna have to spend atleast 200 a peice on them so might as well go all out and get the best tires. Thinking about the continental DWS or Bridgestone Potenza or Hancook V12. Any one got some experience, strength and hope on the subject ? Thanks !

Don't have second thought, you need soft rubber for better traction and grip, so get the Michelin PS3s. I was running Potenza on my car but they were horrible; rough material making my ride bumpy and giving a bit of understeer when speeding on corners. My current PS3s run like a charm!

Didn't you just get those vs1 with the 285 in the rear?

There is no such thing as the best tire. What is best is what meets your criteria. You need to consider hydroplanning resistance, wet traction, dry traction, snow traction, ride, cornering stability, steering response, noise level, tire life etc. A good source of information is tirerack.com. Personally I like the michlin pilot and MXV series.

The best tire I've ever had was the P ZERO NERO M+S. Quiet and grips pretty good. Has AA traction rating. If you want maximum grip and don't drive in snow, get the summer version.

Have the Toyo Proxes 4 on the 03 Max. Nice tire but I think I may try the General G-Max AS-03 next. Cheaper than the Toyo and has good reviews.
The Nittos just don't last long and stay away from Pirelli's.

My friend bought them once, good grip at first but useless piece of rubber after 10,000kms... They don't last at all!

I currently have nitto 555r (245 fronts, 275 rears). Very sticky tires and awesome in the rain. However I only have 3k miles on them, I'm sure like they will suck as it wears down. I'm not sure if I'd go back to those tires, ill let you know as they get older. As of now, they are awesome.

I have also heard though people say about the continental DWS that since they weigh only 24lbs a tire vs 27lbs a tire that this has some negatives

According to consumer Reports the best treadwear and good performance summer tires are the Cooper Zeon RS3-A followed by the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus.

PS the Continetal Extreme contact DWS has the worst treadwear rating

You're hating on the DWS something fierce, dude.

Dws is not a summer tire like the pilot sports and zeons...you're not even comparing apples to oranged...you're comparing apples to kumquats here

You are correct. However, I do not hate any tires but merely trying to inform people that make buying decision on heresay instead of unbiased research. The Michelin Primacy MXV4 and the Continetal Pure Contact in the V speed rating according to Consumer Reports are the 2 best performance all season tires.

The DWS are one of the best ULTRA HIGH PERFORMANCE all season tires according to consumer reports.....there are 3 levels of "all season tires" (all season, performance all season, and ultra high performance all season).

Topping the ULTRA HIGH PERFORMANCE are:

Pirelli P Zero Nero All Season
(82)
Cooper Zeon RS3-A
(82)
Sumitomo HTR A/S PO1
(82)
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus
(80)
Yokohama Avid ENVigor
(80)
Continental Extreme Contact DWS
(80)

Each of the above are recommended by consumer reports.

You are absolutely correct, however, Ultra High Performance tires did not come with the car as OEM and I would be hard pressed to justify spending more money on a Z or W speed rated tire when a V rated tire is OEM and is good for 149 MPH.

Regarding Michelin Pilot A/S, I have them on my BMW 330ci. They are a high quality tire, but become very noisy.

Decisions, decisions, decisions!!!!

I'm definitely going with one of these 2 sets of tires. Continental Extreme Contact DWS or the Kumho Ecsta 4X. The Good Year RSA's have got to go no if &'s or but's about it!!!

Who did you hear that from. The pilot sport A/S have consistently been one of the highest rated tires for at least 10 years now.
