15k for a turbo kit?

Went to a local shop to ask how much it would be to tune and turbo A CVT engine like the maxima he quoted me at 15,000 dollars thats with Labor making the kit tubing everything ......thoughts?

Shops in DFW and only designs/work on turbos and superchargers.

Is there even a boosted maxima yet?

Interesting...I don't think there are any 7th Gen Maximas that have a Turbo in them. My Tint Shop guy keeps arguing with me telling that there is a 7th Gen who goes to his shop and has it Supercharged. I still don't believe him until this day haha. I am in NY btw.

Im curious, with a turbo kit running minimal boost, i highly doubt the cvt would last very long. In wondering since the 2013 pathfinder has a chain drive cvt instead of our kevlar belt, if you switched trannys to that if it would help the longevity if you added boost.
Just a thought

the Altima CVT that has a turbo I think blew up the trans with 10 PSI and only could run with 5. havent heard a lot about it in a while though. so 15 grand to get 5 PSI...

$15K for a turbo? I'd have taken the $15K + the cost of the Maxima and bought an entirely different car to begin with.

I would just buy a new car myself. Maxima is around 40k Brand New..with another 15k you could probably get the BMW 335xi or hell, even the Nismo fully loaded!

TBH, If I was rich...I wouldn't mind giving it a shot!

Seems about right, base mustang and camaros owners that add turbos or SC usually end up spending about 25k when done, its an expensive hobby, especially if your doing a one of a kind setup

edit: when I had my 06, just a turbo setup from speed force racing and install was like 5-7k for just the turbo, trans rebuilding was another 5k, eventually upgrading the engine was another couple grand, and that dis not even include the BBK, new wheels and suspension, it adds up

thats kind of how I feel about it. dont get me wrong ive done a lot of mods to this car, but all over the place (performance and aesthetics). same reason i bought this car, it was a good "all around car". you'd not only end up with a much faster car if you just got a Z to turbo, but you'd most likely spend less and have way less headaches goin that route. the CVT is not for performance and every mechanic who has worked on one will tell you that, so just don't be disappointed when it's not super-friendly to being driven hard all the time as a few who have needed to have their trans replaced have found out

Costs a lot because it is custom work and a large portion is probably charges for labor. Too bad there is no turbo kit. I'd love an extra 18-35 hp. I don't see how a small turbo would be too much for the tranny. But just to be safe, tuning and programming may be necessary to keep the engine components safe under wide open throttle.

If I had 15k to drop on a turbo I'd buy a used sports coupe. My car only cost around 20k, used but fully loaded.

The altima that have the Turbo got parted out and sold. To much up keep and to much $$$ for little HP/TQ.

If I had 15k to drop, it use it to eat up my negative equity, get my self in to a g37 and hit up GTM for there Twin Turbo kit and have a decent 450whp G. or get my ducati...one or the other.
