Viper vs Python Alarm on Max

ok ive got a security with remote start done to my Max. Went to the shop and asked for the Viper 5904 HD. They gave me my Max back after 6 hours and was happy but then realize they throw in a Python 594 HD alarm instead of the Viper. I was upset cause I asked for the Viper. I asked the guy and he told me its the exact same thing and the only difference is the name & design. But he said he can replace it if i do want the Viper but I got to wait. I tested the so call "1 Mile Range" and its not even half of a mile. Does Viper alarms does that too? Has anyone experience these 2 alarms? Should I wait and switch to Viper?

viper and python are same exact alarm and the whole one mile thats bull**** unless you gonna try on some road where theres nothing blocking the signal... get smartstart and you basically got unlimited range lol. but yea viper and python is same company basically

yea i hear they the same company. thanks for the input. but i want to know if yall have the same issue with Viper with the "1 mile range". I did some testing and it starts when im like 10 houses down. Thats not even close to half a mile. I do want a long range tho because i work in a wide building and my car remote tells me im out of range. awhile ago i couldve sworn i seen someone started his viper in the building. , and im not going to get the smart start tho. not thinking of going through the subscription plan that they got

Now I'm not familiar with how these alarms work, but 1 mile would be stretching it period. As a amateur radio operator, I do know some things about antenna theory and to get 1 mile range with something as small in power as a remote, you'd need line of sight, no trees, buildings, etc and weather would have to be perfect. This isn't realistic.

Once you start adding in buildings, trees, weather patterns give it up. It's not happening without a directional antenna and greater power. I doubt you want to carry around THAT type of remote.

Don't always believe advertising hype.

Just add smart start. My car almost directly underneath my condo in the underground parking lot and I have the Viper 5704. My remote won't reach my car, but my smart works like a champ.

Remember that all companies specs on service, reception or range is all based upon "ideal conditions" not everyday scenarios.
