New to the forum, and have and need some help

Wassup all, this is Will from brooklyn,ny.Ive been paasing through the forum forum for a while, and finally decided to become a registered member,I honestly dont know what i was waiting for.I own a 2009 nissan maxima for about two years now,and I did alot of mods pretty much from the moment i purchased her.FUll Stillen exaust,Stillen intake, mesh grill, eibauch lowering springs(i know im spelling that wrong),twenty inch TWS rims, roof spoiler.I will try to get some pics up here soon.Im pretty happy with the car,but one thing i have noticed about my car is the take off is pretty sluggish at times, mostly say from a complete stop to exceleration say at a light or something.Feels like its mostly in that first gear, and then the car will pick up.I dont know if its maybe the cvt transmission,or if its something with my car.I took it to the dealer, and they took care of a few different things, but the problem is still there.Does anybody have any idea what the problem could be,or experienced similar problems with there max?

Welcome! I lurked around myself for a while before joining. Really informative forums with a lot of helpful people.

Have you taken your car to the dealer for that specific problem alone? A few months ago, we had a guy on the forums report he needed a brand new transmission to remedy his sluggish acceleration from stop issues. Low transmission fluid pressure I think was the issue.

Likely, your CVT is under warranty (10years or 120k miles, whichever comes first). I'd get it checked out.

I just bought a 13 Max, is 10/120K the basic warranty on the CVT or do you have to buy an extended warranty to get that ?

Thanks

Also, Nissan sort of 'softened' the initial accelleration on the '09s, probably because they were not yet absolutely sure the new CVT was ready for full throttle. There is a software process the dealer can do that helps initial accelleration in the '09s. Many here had that done, and maybe one of those folks will tell us the details.

My need is for quick power getting from around 35 or 45 to 85 for quick passing. My '09 does a super job of that.

I actually can't find that 10/120k extended warranty noted for the 2013, and their website notes it's for 2003-2010 models.

For the 2013, you're covered under the 60month/60k powertrain warranty (Page 6).

I'd look at what your dealer gave you when you signed for the car and call them for more details.

I know 2009's and 2010's have 10 years 120k on the CVT. I believe after that they have 5 years 60k.

edit: whoops, didn't see Shipwreck replied. But yeah, that website has the info you're looking for.

Try Sport Mode off the Line and Switch to CVT..that seems to be the quickest for myself and others as well! Welcome to the forum..I hang with a good group of guys on the Island and in Brooklyn with Maximas..come meet up sometime.

Yeah, but it might not be a "problem" unless this only recently started happening. As lightonthehill and ghozt stated, it could just be the 09 CVT and the factory's computer settings. Talk to your dealer if you feel its a problem.

Guido's idea seems to work okay too. I just stay in D and play with the pressure of the gas. Start light and slowly depress to maintain rpms until cruising speed (before they go down to 2k). Have yet to go WOT. The possible consequences are too expensive

I just assumed when I bought the car it was under the 6/60 warranty but many people were referencing 10/120K so I figured I would ask. I don't even want to know why they shortened the warranty, lol

the torque limiter prevents you from damaging the car if you just floor it from a stand-still. the car is way more interested in preserving the CVT than launching you like a race car
