Window tint

Can you guys post some pics of your window tint with the percentage? I don't know if I want to go 20%, 35% or 50.

I don't have any pics but I just put 20% on mine and its perfect. 35% looks good but is kinda light. 50% you might as well not even bother lol

If you are going to go illegal..go illegal all the way. The ticket & offense is the same. I recommend 20% all around and then if you really want too..you could do 35%. The Back Window from where I live isn't illegal. Hell, I could do 0%..but I wont be able to see out the window really.

Just google search the percentages on images and you'll see how they will look.

Well according to the internet Ohio's window tent law reads that the front windows must allow 50% light in. The back and the rear windows have no limits.

If It's Fun..It's Illegal. That's what a cop who pulled me over recently told me. To be honest..he is right lol.

Just remember any tint is a reason for a cop to pull you over. Those 4 beers may not have you swerving or speeding but from once he has you if you blow a .08 your going to jail.

IMO get a black interior and forget the tint unless you don't drink at all.

Yeah they do..they have some of the weirdest laws in some states too. I think there is a website for the weirdest/dumbest laws in each state..you'll get a kick out of it.

I Personally had 35s on my last car..with black interior..I swapped them out for 20s. I know that I am going to get pulled over regardless..so I figured I'd do it right and get 20s.

Well..I don't encourage anyone to EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER...DRINK AND DRIVE. How is that even a question or a factor that popped into this?

Because people without tinted windows may have no idea that they can and will be pulled over ( especially at night) for just the tint. Some states are worse than others.

If you're not ( or anybody in your car) doing anything illegal and want to risk having to take the tint off ( and a good chance damaging your rear window defroster) go for it. If you do then I know a few people who have DUI's at .08 and were pulled over for tint.......I know first hand that a 200 lb guy can hit .08 from 3 beers in a bit over an hour......Just a heads up, don't give the cops an in.

I have 35% on mine, with black leather it looks pretty good. On a sunny day it looks light and really helps with the heat. On a cloudy, rainy day it is hard to see inside the car.

Only time I had a problem is friday night on a dark street. Black car, black leather...it looks suspicious, they will be bored and pull you over. Just be nice and don't have any booze in you, been let off many times.

Got pulled over on a sunny day with 35% and no mention of the tint at all.

Here it is on a cloudy day.

Question since we are both in West Chester where do you go to get your windows tinted. I've always done Auto Truck Outfitters but since I feel 35% is way to light I am planning on going 20% or 15% on the sides and am planning on going to Shades of Gray in Philly to get the old taken off and new applied

I ended up geting off because he pulled me over for legal tint. Still cost me $$$ but better than a DUI and I learned a lesson. I won't have one beer and drive since

Nope, Im not retarded

Having a single beer and getting behind the wheel of a car is blatantly retarded. Some of us have what is known as common sense, even though it seems to no longer be common among people

Feel free to put your own life at risk, but dont chance that of others.

You are right I was dumb to drink and drive, so are all the idiots who street race and /or drive 100mph on the highway

Pop up a poll of those on this forum of people who have done any of those things , I'll take the over 95% for $100 !

It doesnt matter if 99.9% of people said yes on your poll, both of those things are stupid.

Driving over a 100...retarded. Even if you think you are good and nothing is going to happen, something bad can always happen.

Street racers can go DIAMFF!

If you have black interior, the tint will appear darker. I went with 40% on my wife;s Maxima and it looks fine to me. Go any darker and you will be taking a chance imo.
This shows the car before and after the tint. Image 8 & 9 are with the tint. Had the same % done on the TL we used to own as well.

I think using the word retarded is "stupid"

My point was the vast majority ( I have never raced but I did 100 in my M5 when I was in my 20's) of people have done stupid things.............not you of course

Sorry for hijacking the thread, I'm done

I'll spare the public service announcement on drinking and driving and simply show my tint. Here is my 2013 Maxima. 20 percent on the rear window only... 35 on all others. With a black interior it is perfect IMO. If I had a light interior I would have likely went 20 all around.

I guess I'll be getting tint since I don't drink at all. Texas seems pretty lenient from what I heard though I don't want to take chances!

Looks really good! So to ensure I understand, 35% is how much light is entering your car? I have a light interior so I think 25% would work for me on the fronts since that's the legal amount here.

So the percentage is the amount of light that is transmitted through the tint. In this example... 35% tint, allows 35% light through. The lower the number, the darker the tint... i.e. limo tint is generally 5%.

Also keep in mind that even though they don't appear to be tinted at all, factory glass is not 100% clear. What that means is that my front windows with 35% tint applied would likely show on a meter down at the 27-29% range. In Colorado the legal limit is 27% VLT, so that puts me right at that number.

What does tint on your windows have to do with drinking & driving? I guess I missed that connection.

I've got 35% all around, which is legal in MA, and a black interior. It's pretty dark at night but on a sunny day, it's very translucent. I've yet to be pulled over. I was in NJ a few weeks ago talking to a state trooper at a rest stop; we were discussing license plate covers. He never mentioned a thing about my window tint.

Keep your tint legal and don't drive like an idiot and you won't have any problems.

Personally, if I was to redo it, I'd keep the front windows at 35% and probably get the rear windows and (rear) windshield at 20%.
