2011 Max and Homelink program issues
so i got a 2011 Max and i just replaced the garage door opener in my 3rd garage with a internet capable craftsman. i try to link the Max with it and the thing just wont read the code. My wife tries it in her Infiniti and everything works with no problems at all. I've tried all the basic troubleshooting, clearing the memory, re-seating the fuses, tapping the learn button, etc... anyone else see a problem with this?

The way it works is you pair the opener to the repeater and then you pair the homelink in the car to a remote supplied with the repeater. The bad part is the repeater needs its own power source and is not supported by the battery back up in the opener. So if your power goes out you won't be able to open the door from your car.
I hope this helps.

Good Luck
So I had this problem with my 2011 Max and 2006 Trailblazer SS. I upgraded my opener to the "MyQ" technology similar to your Craftsman and the problem is linked to the new "security" technology used in the openers. Cars made later in 2011 and 2012 have the newer security protocol and thus work with the newer openers. I had to get a repeater that Liftmaster supplied me for free. I am not sure if Sears is offering the same.

I called homelink (you can find the number on their website) and they are sending me a repeater free of charge. I think if your car isn't relatively new, they will charge you for the repeater. I haven't received it yet, but from what I read online, it should solve the problem. I have a 2012 max and just bought a chamberlain whisperdrive with MyQ and battery backup.

Yes. It fixed the problem. It just needs to be plugged in within receiving range of the opener. It's not protected under the battery backup, but I figure I can get out of the car and use the keypad if the power is out. Give them a call and they'll send one right out.
Thanks for the tip!
