Speed alert?

I have a 2012 Premium with nav. Does anyone know of a way to set up a speed alert so that something alerts you if you go over a certain speed? I have a hard time keeping my Max anywhere near the speed limit.

Assuming this isn't a "tongue in cheek" question, TomTom has offered that option for years. Unfortunately, the technology within the Max does not have that option.

If you have an Android phone there are tons of such apps. Theres a compass type app thats the number one in its category. Just search there.

Speed alert? How about paying a cop to drive behind you?

Thanks. I have an iPhone but there probably is something for that as well.

what about simply paying attention to the speed limit and how fast you're going when you're driving? It's not rocket science...the needle goes to the right and the numbers get bigger as your foot goes down...and the opposite is true. Not that hard.

No kidding but the car rides so smooth and you hardly notice when your speed creeps up on the highway.

Tell me Ghozt that you dont read those emails/texts driving over 90. Very unsafe driving practice

errr no. thats retarded. the viper alarm's alerting system can be enabled via text/email so its interesting to see later when I accidentally go that fast. i get text/email for anything that happens with the car; it's just the method of communication.

Good to hear Ghozt. Too bad there is so many out there that really don't care. See them drivng and texting everyday, even tho there are laws againt this assinine behavior.

Too true. Ask someone if they're okay with closing their eyes for 10 seconds while driving and they'll say hell no. Ask them if they're okay with reading a text and most will say yeah. I think some people think their cars are trains on rails and the white lines on either side of them will keep them going straight.

I can understand the OP's problem. My wife is used to driving her trucks, and it is difficult to speed in those babies without knowing it (they actually ride 'like a truck').

So when we switch drivers on a long trip in my Maxima, and she takes over, things are fine for a while, then, half asleep, I have the feeling of moving fast. I crack one eye and I notice the fenceposts are moving by rather quickly. I glance at the speedo, and we are at numbers the moderator here would delete if posted.

At this point, I nudge her, pointing to the dash. Her looks at the needle, her eyes get big, and she immediately steps on the brake and slows down to the seventies. She doesn't like to drive fast, but, in this Maxima, she often finds herself doing just that.

Glad somebody gets what I meant. On the pike I usually go between 70 and 75 where the speed limit is 65. You're usually safe at that speed. It doesn't take much to drift up to 80 or a little more and then you're sure to get a ticket.
