Leather is cracking.

As to be expected, my leather is cracking and peeling on my maxima. I am sitting at 46k but since I do 40 miles round trip every day, im not surprised.

Question is, how would you guys go about getting it fixed? It just my drivers seat. I looks like I have 100k on the Odometer

Now keep in mind that I got the car with 32k 16 months ago and the leather was pretty beat up by the original owner.

Do you have any pics on where this is happening? Have you been using a leather conditioner? I use one on my seats routinely and they still look brand new.

Thanks, the pictures look better.
So, I'm just stating what appears to be the obvious, but it looks like some of the cracking is because the previous owner had something on their pants or something and scratched the crap out of the seat backs.

Also, the driver side seat support looks like the previous owner sat in the car with their legs just hanging out the side of the car perhaps talking to someone or doing something.

I don't know how to restore that damage unfortunately, so I cannot offer any help.

Yea i can tell the previous owner was a pig. There is scratches in the plastic in alot of places. Im guessing they had a large dog. There is a place called Dr. Vinyl im going to visit and see what they offer.

I bought a new leather cover for the back part of my seat on my Infiniti. A bit of apain to install and not cheap ($500 I think) but the only way to "fix" it correctly

Stuff is awesome keeps the leather looking like new in all our cars, use a terry cloth towel, micro fiber is to soft and absorbent, coat the seat, especially the part that is most prone to the the wear lines, wipe it down, 2nd or 3rd wipe down and leave it for a couple hours, seats dry in 20 minutes to an hour but give it some extra drying time

Your seats don't look bad at all, when you said cracks, I was thinks like cracked and ripping, try the Meguiars cleaner conditioner, it should cover up the age lines or cracks, only way to really prevent those cracks is not get in and flex and move the leather, the Meguiars will bring your seats back to like new factory seats, it should hide the scratches pretty well, I would try it before doing the leather repair

Not a chance that any conditioner fixes those scratches on the seat back that occured while entering the car, I had the same thing ( trust me it looks worse in person) an it's only going to get worse and eventually tear

You can try what you want, in the end if you want that seat to look new you have to replace the cover

The lower seats look fine. If you planning on keeping the car do it right, if not just deal with it until you get a new car

The bottoms don't look unusually worn, but the seat backs are clear evidence that a driver has gotten out of the car dozens of times with either a tool in his left rear pocket, or wearing some kind of pants with metal studs on the left side, and swiveled to the left and drug then against the seat back as he exited the car.

I ruined my den lounger with a set of pants that had those metal studs on the side. I ended up throwing those pants away after having them only a month.

yeah I use the Meguiars conditioner too, it's really really good it makes the leather feel soft like new. try cleaning your leather and conditioning it once a week for several weeks in a row. guaranteed that after a month of that your seat is much improved both in appearance and texture. i always clean my steering wheel, shifter, and the little leather areas on my tap shifters, it makes everything feel new haha

Yea I figured a new cover would be needed. Just not sure were to get one. I am also going to see what these interior guys will do. At the other car lot I used to work at, there was a guy that did really good work with leather and vinyl. And the work lasted too.

I do alot of driving but I wear suits so Im not sure it was me on the side bolster but I know the bottom seats were bad from the get go.

Now does any one know if 370z or G37 coupe seats bolt right up? Its been stuck in my head for almost 2 weeks now. You just never know......

You get it at the dealer, it takes a few hours but you can do it yourself. Its the only way your going to get it perfect and in the end you'll probably pay as much attempting repairs that IMO won't look as good or last as long

If you've seen those customizing shows the guys you bring it to are going to do the same thing and replace the cover, no way they match the stiching to factory

Do it once, do it rght or you may be able to find the entire cushion on Ebay

When I sold my 2005, my drivers seat bolster did not look as bad as the OP's, but still nasty. I talked to my dealer about it, and he gave me the number of a detailer that they use to recondition used cars before putting them on the lot.

I didn't get to watch him, but he basically spray painted the seat to match the leather, and he took about an hour to do it. I suspect most of the time was spent matching paint/dye. I would give it about an 8.5/10 after he was done, and the rest of the time I owned the car I was VERY careful getting in and out of the car.

IIRC, it cost me $60/70.

This works I used it on my friends 73 911 RS.... They were really cracked way worse than what I see in your pictures.

http://www.leatherrenew.com/details.php?prodId=56

I would call them and see what they recommend, send some pictures they'll know what will work or not.
