Gloss black in the middle and chrome on the outside would give it the best look. That's how I have mines. You probably should of painted it before the install. Makes things 10x easier and faster.

I actually used black trim tape and blacked out the grille. I also added the EZ-Lip.

Wait so you used black trim tape to black it out? I'm kind of confused because I don't really know what trim tape is, but did you essentially place tape on the grill?

Looks like I'm doing this too. Should've came that way from the factory, really does look 1000x better in black. I don't even like the chrome trim around the grille like on the sports package, I think it looks best all blacked out.

+1

Close-up pics and how you did it would be appreciated. Looks good from far! How's it holding up, etc?

Directly on. You purposely tape off about an inch away from the border so the excess peels easier...also don't forget to put cardboard behind it to prevent overspray into the radiator.

How many coats of Plastidip and did you use any of the glossifier?

I did four coats to be safe and add durability....no glossifier. To touch it even months after the fact you'd think it was plastic and cans that way...no chips.

plastidip is a matte black though, and even with the glossifier doesnt look like a gloss black. if you dont goto shows or anything plastidip is fine, if you like to show off the car id go with a real paint job.

Here's an idea of how to take it off. This is a friend of mine's Sonata that I dipped awhile back:

What he said. I wanted my grille to match my lower black plastic grille so I went with the matte finish. Definitely not a fan of the glossifier unless it's on wheels since it gives a little pop but not a true "gloss" like a paint job would.
