Swan Song>>It was fun!
I wanted to thank all of you for the many tips gathered here for my 2010 Maxima Tech. I had the car on a 39 month lease and turned the car in last Saturday.
I did not get another Maxima but can tell you I really enjoyed the car and the approving looks it still got whenever I drove it. I never put in premium gas and still got well over 25 MPG most of the time! It had plenty of power but sometimes at highway speeds, it was slow to react to speeds above 65 mph. Not a fatal flaw but reinforces why I don' want another CVT trans. I did like how it would turn very low rpms in town though. Also the Bose stereo was great. Saw no reason for more sub woofers, etc that what came on the car was fine.. This car handled top notch for a front driver! Problems: My driver seat power seat would hang up from time to time, on the front to rear adjustment always fixing itself when near the dealer. The driver seat had a slight rock but not enough to do something about it. I would have if I wasn't leasing the car. Also had a slight knock at start up from about 10 K miles on. Always went away once car was warm. Either way, this is a lot of car for the money. We loved the rear seat controls for the radio and heat, something that was decontented on later Tech models. (Big mistake!) The sticker price is way out of line but I have to say Nissan cut some super deals to offset the shock!
Does anyone know if the 2014s are being redesigned? I'd like to see a larger Nav screen and a good set of LED drls that could be turned off if needed. Really wish they would put in an 8 speed auto and I would be back for another for sure

Easy Premium Fan Boys! The power was there but it took a little time from 65 on up due to the CVT. I was averaging 25 mpg over 48000 miles! Never a ping! If you are a boy racer, I would wonder why anyone seeking fast throttle response would hang their hat on a CVT trans? The reason I praise this car is that it was a great cruiser and handled very well for being a front driver. Not really the 4 door sports car Nissan suggested though but close. I liked this car a lot, just not enough to get another.
It is more dough, but I like the look of the 2014 CTS with the 420 HP Twin Turbo V6.
Once again, hats off to Nissan for bringing the current generation Maxima to the market. It has Many up market extras and this 4 year old design is still a head turner today!

A few years back, I remember reading a thread where someone had put their car on a dyno to see if using regular gas affected the car's performance. The manufacturer suggested the car use premium gas for best performance. Turned out the car ended up making less ponies with the regular gas.
