Wheel Spacer Question

After rotating my tires this weekend, I finally saw what the offset on my wheels are (they came with the car). Sitting at ET40, I was trying to figure out what size spacers to get. Specifically, I want to know do I measure from the wheel to the inside of the fender or to the outside of the fender?

On the Ichiba website, it shows measuring to the inside of the fender. A 15MM spacer will put me just shy of flush, while a 20MM will be exactly flush.

Thanks in advance.

Spacers strictly for looks or will it increase traction/handling?

^ Agee with Ghozt, mostly looks but also any increase in "tire track" will help a bit in vehicle handling, throw-in some negitive camber and it will help even more. (not the best thing for tire wear though).
