Nav upgrade to show overseas location?
Nav upgrade to show overseas location?
Maxima's are sold all over the world, but when I called Nissan and Navteq about a remedy for me moving overseas, they informed me that there is nothing that I can purchase from them due to a software difference in overseas models.
Just trying to figure out if anyone on this forum has devised a way to get around that. Really don't want to get in my car every day for 3 years and not have the usage of my navigation system.
Thanx in advance.

I'm headed to the UK also, but I still haven't found a way around this. I'll probably end up trading the Maxima in for an Audi A5, I absolutely will not drive this car for 3 years with no NAV or SAT radio function.
I would get a thing called a "road map" before dumping the Max.
But many folks these days are surprisingly inept with road maps, because they have seldom (or never) been required to use them. Most folks that have been relying on electronic navigation packages for most of their driving years would not be inclined to adjust back to road maps.
As info, those moving to England who choose to try a road map when they arrive on the Queen's shore should consider Ordnance Survey's Motoring Atlas (Great Britain at 3 miles to 1 inch). I have spent hundreds of hours buried in that particular publication.
Europe has a lot more advanced Standalone GPS than the Nissan with speed traps warning, camera warnings, traffic, etc.. Probably better to invest in one of those than try to do an update in your car and possibly having to do something when you bring it back as well..
Smartphone apps, and connect to monitor somehow. Apple rca adapter, or Intraphex smart integration device (sid) Although they have bad customer service. I wrote and never got a response and I picked a local rep from their website and they never heard of the product. There might be other options out there...

For those of you who were suggesting that I read a map while driving, that's not a viable option for me.
I purchased the vehicle with the intent to use the navigation in-car, and on screen.
For the other poster who asked how much its costing me to ship my car overseas, that would be $0. I am active duty Air Force, government sends me somewhere, they pay for it (up to 1 vehicle). You do have to make some minor modifications to your car to make it street legal though (rear fog lamps, re-adjustment of headlamps, etc).
