Safest redline

On the BD I can obviously set the red line.. Where should I set it to get max performance and keep engine/tranny safe?

Really? That low? When I first hooked it up it was at 6750 stock. I just set it to 6800. Is that 6200 for best performance?

I wouldn't really mess with that personally too much, too much stress on the trans. BTW even if you can go back to stock the ECU can still track that the car has different ignition timing, or advanced redline, during this period so if anything broke you'd be SOL on that warranty

Sounds like good advice.

Yeah I hear ya, that's why I'm looking for the safest spot. Weird that its 6200 and the BD says 6750. I'm gonna lower it, thanks

What about idle? Can I screw anything up?

yeah I'm thinking you'd more than likely just limp the transmission more easily, since it'd be running higher and hotter and it already gets pretty damn hot. I think the settings it may be using are for a standard automatic, I could be mistaken though. I didn't touch my rev limiter with my tune, the tuner recommended I leave that alone too unless I feel like being a "pioneer" haha.

Also it won't buy you more performance to bump up the "R's" as the power/torque curve of this stock engine is made more in the mid RPM range.

Thanks for the advice guys, so i'm taking it down to 6200. But how about the idle? should I leave that alone? It felt so good when it was a little high.

Sorry Fundem.... I said 6200rpm but the redline is actually 6600 so I obviously had my head somewhere else when I said 6200. My error.

I was pretty 'up' on everything to do with cars back between the late 1940s until around the mid-1970s, at which time all this pollution stuff was added. Now everything seems to be inter-related with everything else, and nothing can be adjusted without causing something bad elsewhere.

Having said that, I don't see any real downside to raising the idle revs somewhat other than slightly increased fuel consumption when idling.

But I would like to hear other thoughts on this.
