Maxima S edition
Maxima S edition
It seems like almost everyone on here has the SV edition with packages. I just have the S edition and sometimes I kick myself because I didn't get the SV edition.
Any other S drivers feel the same way?

I have a 2011 S and have no regrets. I Had the dealer install The rear spoiler and i purchased the stock fogs the next day after i purchased it. Im not a fan of leather interior so i didnt care to much about that. Only thing i wish i had was factory 19's but it doesnt bother me that much.
Well you have the Limited Edition...which has the ideal equipment, sporty blackened rims, that most upgrade to, HIDS, spoiler etc. It perfect if you like cloth but want that sporty look of a SV Sport or prior SE's without the cost!

My last two 2013 rental Maxima's from Hertz for work do not have the stock 12/13yrs 18 inch rims, they have the much less desirable 09 to 11yrs 18 inch rims......The ones I saw on the lot did as well, I wonder if they were stolen alot or swapped out from older yr owners and Hertz made a deal with Nissan to have the older rims on the later 12's & 13's.

They are the same 18 inchers, just darkened like they did for 10 SV 19 inch Sports and 13 SV Sports 19 inchers. 09,10, and11 S and SV's non Sports and 09 and 11 SV Sports had the greyish finish and 12 SV Sports had the "bright" Silver 19 inchers. 09 to 13 S and SV non Sports 18 inchers except the Limited have the greyish finish rims. Confusing I know.....lol

well excluding the darkened rims.
2010 S, loving it. Already dropped it on Eibachs, added a spoiler and fogs, upgraded the factory speakers, new receiver, soon to do a tablet on the top dash and fix that rear camber with spec/ichiba arms. Intake, rear sway bar and 19-20" rims are on the list as well, lol
Loving my S. I'll admit I did want black on black w/leather, 19in'ers, nav and all those extras would be nice. But I couldn't justify the difference in cost.
The S model is actually lighter than the other models, I read that somewhere on the Org.
To make up with some of the things the S is lacking like others have said, it's all accomplished through Mods!
Eibachs, rstb and spacers are next on my list along with mounting my iPad. The iPad alone will give me all the benefits of Nav and more!
Mine is a '12 I bought used CPO with 15k on it for 22.5k not including the 3 T's.

Either way it's still a max!
I've had two GXE's (I would think an S now), one SE (SV with sport now)...this time I wanted to get a few more options already in place. Can't go wrong with any of the 3.

A friend of the family is the reason I got a Maxima in the first place. He drives an S (for some reason, he doesn't like leather and doesn't care about nav, heated seats, XM, etc). There is nothing wrong with the S - it is, for all intents and purposes, the same stuff minus the extra luxury bits. It still drives like a Maxima and has the same power.
Enjoy what you have/can afford. Next time, if you want it and can afford it, get the upgraded model - I've never heard anyone complaining that their car is too luxurious or has too many cool features...

Awesome car
. On a side note, the org has taught me so much about modding and the people here are so nice and helpful. Happy modding!
The main things I miss my "S" does not have is HIDs and driving lights. I drive in areas with no street lighting (canyons) and let me tell you standard Maxima lights are horrible. That will be a must have mod for me. I am fine with just about everything else.
I went with the SV Sport/tech cause it'd be a pain in the *** if possible at all to add rearview camera, navi, heated seats, and a heated steering wheel. I am officially spoiled and all cars in the future must have at least these features.
Every car buying/leasing decision is based on a variety of factors. My advice to anyone looking is to make a list of priorities, then break that list down into wants, needs, and gravy.
The guy who talked me into looking at the Maxima (I wasn't interested, primarily because I didn't like the idea of a CVT and hadn't really taken a hard look at the Max) drove an S. He loves the car. His reason for an S was simple: the man doesn't like leather interiors, loved the power, ride, and handling, and the deal he got was flat awesome.
I used to drive an Accord with cloth and the four cylinder. Although I often said I'd have loved the six cylinder with a stick and leather, I was perfectly content with what turned out to be a reliable, fun, awesome car. I liked it so much that I'm pretty sure that if my deal had fallen through on my Max, I'd have gotten a new Accord, but with the six and all the toys.
The reality is that your S has all the performance of the SV's but cost way less because it doesn't have the leather and all the toys. That's not a bad deal, friend. It's a great way to stretch a buck. Plus, it's not like it's going to be yours forever - your next car can be whatever you want and can afford. Enjoy what you have - the S is a fabulous deal.
As a side note, I have a buddy with a Mustang GT (5.0 baby). He bought his car with cloth and hardly any options. Sure, leather and a sunroof is always great (as is a convertible), but his car is just as much fun as a tarted up model would be, and it sounds amazing with his exhaust system.
Don't kick yourself - you are driving an awesome vehicle....

I agree. My next Max MUST have all the bells and whistles, I will not settle for anything less. I just got my 2012, so I'm going to wait until 2015 to trade it in for a 2014 Max. :-)

I went with the limited edition because it had everything I was looking for, one of the biggest was hid headlights, fogs, and the rims. I thought I wanted leather because my first previous/first car had it but Florida summers are too damn hot I actually love the cloth
I bought the 2011 S and added a spoiler OEM for $295 and found some like new leather seats for $450. The only thing I want to do now is add a set of fog lights. So for $900 I have everything I want in a car that would have cost me at least 4 grand more. I am happy.
For those of you would have installed fog lights. Does the OEM for lights need to be rewired or is there a harness for it available under the bumper? Thanks.

I don't know that Nissan has released the actual figures, but the 'S' with Limited Edition package was only available in 2012 and 2013, and I would guess there were probably only around 5K copies of the 'S' with Limited edition package assembled each of those two years.
The Maxima is (by Nissan's choice) a low-volume vehicle, and the production is currently around 60K per year, with that total being split between the base 'S', the Limited Edition 'S', the base 'SV', the 'SV' with Sport package and the 'SV' with Premium package.
There is also the added split of the three 'SV', 'SV' with Sport and 'SV' with Premium categories between those without the Tech package and those with the Tech package. We could also mention the 'SV' Bose package, the 'SV' Cold package, the 'SV' Value package and the 'SV' Monitor package, but that gets us into too much detail.

Yeah I feel the same way, all I know was that I wanted a Maxima without doing much research on the different packages... Now that I have my "S" there is stuff in the other packages I wish I had... My choice would have been the Premium with the Tech package....
