Lower mpg with K&N drop in

So I'm seeing about a 3 mpg drop off since putting in this air filter. I've even backed off the throttle to make sure I wasn't ******* the car. Anyone else seeing this?

Not at all for me. The k&n did little to my fuel mileage or power for that matter but i do like the idea of saving the 3 or 4 filters i would have gone through in my 60k since getting it. There has to be some other factor at play such as weather or fuel change or possibly the car adjusting to the richer or leaner mix. Give it a couple weeks and test again

I noticed the joint directly across from the V6 logo on the engine cover is loose. Is this supposed to be snug? Perhaps hot air from the engine bay is leaking into the air box?

That wouldn't matter that much but I do have the K&N filter and SRI from stillen. I honestly switch every other week (im just weird and plus I take it to my dealership so I have to switch for my warranty safety) I get 20mph (Texas) with the Stillen SRI and get a solid 19mph with the K&N filter. Its almost every time so I guess it depends on your driving habits and location. The best intake for MPH would be Ghozt true custom CAI but once again it depends if you want to take that route.

I would say stay with the K&N filter. As far as the the the vent that leads to the Intake box. Ive left it on there because I really dont think it makes that much of a difference in hot/or cold air. Its always hot in Texas so yeah lol
