Black Grit From Ventilated Seat

Lately I've noticed a black grit accumulating on my drivers seat. I'm positive it doesn't come from my clothes and my filter is clean. Has anyone else noticed a black grit accumulating on their ventilated drivers seat?

I have not and I use it almost everytime I am in the car. There is a filter for the AC seat? Where?

Do you have pictures that you could show? I'm assuming you have the cafe latte seats as do I and I don't black grit I have a bluish color which I think came from jeans and not the filter. I'm just curious to know how yours looks.

There is a filter in the AC seat. They did discuss in another thread somewhere but I forgot where. I was just as surprised.

I know that it is a shot in the dark necrobump, but has anyone else found a fix for this?

I have a 2010 with leather ventilated seats, and I have this black crap all over. It looks and feels like black sand. I think it is seat foam that has disintegrated and accumulated at the bottom of the seat as my seat doesn't seem as padded as it used to be. I had my dealer look at it several times and every time he said that he had never seen anything like it and would try to contact Nissan to see what they could do about it, but I'm sure he was blowing me off...

Hmmm, I'm a commercial HVAC tech and the first thing I thought of since the seats are heated and cooled is mold... It's not uncommon for ductwork to develop mold if it is wet or moist for long periods of time.

If the cars that have this issue are in humid environments it's worth looking into...

The seat isn't really cooled. It just blows air, hence the "ventilated" seat label.

Also, a magic eraser will get the blue from jeans off of seats.

Well my seat sure feels cold when I turn mine to the "cold" settings. Great feature to have here in Southern California.

The seat doesn't have air conditioned air blown through it?

The climate controlled driver seat has it's own built in heating and cooling system. It has nothing to do with the vehicles AC or heat.

Does it blow cold air through the seat?

The ventilated seat has a "Thermal Electric Device or TED" this devices is what heats or cools the air depending on your setting.

I still have my 2010 max and I still get the accumulation of the black grit on the seat. I use the seat heater basically every time I drive and haven't seen any change in performance. still no clue what the black grit is

Heated or cooled air is circulated through the seat by use of a fan and air ducts.

I have not noticed any grit in my 2014.
