Removal of coolant

Could you in theory use a vacuum to suck out your coolant to change it?

You could use a wet/dry vac to do it but I don't know how much you would be leaving in there. I doubt it would get every bit of it. Draining it doesn't get it all out either. If you want a full change then you need to hook it up to a machine and push it out.

Radiator fluid

You can't really suck it out like that. You need another opening or a really efficient straw type tool to extract it like that. Do you need to extract the entire coolant or did you overfill?

The car is just shy of 3 years old with 36k on it. My thought process like my mowers and PWC is to suck out the liquid and if some stays in it is better then nothing.

Does the 7 gen use that blue coolant or can you use anything

Newer cars use better grade coolants with improved corrosion inhibitors. As such, are you aware that the recommended service interval of the Maxima engine coolant is 105,000 miles or 7 years whichever comes first? Subsequent changes are 75,000 miles or 5 years whichever comes first.

I'm completely familiar with the configuration of the VQ35 but I know on the VQ30 if you pull the thermostat and disconnect the lower radiator hose, you can flush the system and block simply by running a garden hose into the radiator filler neck.

Once you've got the old coolant out, seal your shop vac hose into the fill neck and run the shop vac in reverse until you've got the all the tap water pushed out. Then just refill with coolant and distilled water.

When I had my 2007 max and when it got to the 2 yr mark I had the coolant changed per the manual. Then I traded for this 2011 and it is with the maint plan for oil changes and when I had it in for the oil change at the 24000 mile mark, I ask the service advisor about changing the coolant and they told me that all that was changed and now it up in the area of 5 yrs. I kinda wondered about that and was told by the dealer not to worry about it. that it don't effect anything in regards to the warranty etc.
