Alright so I'm always looking for cheap or simple ways to make my baby better. By cheap I in no way mean *cheap* I just mean more simple. Such as plasti dip. Anyway... I've been curious as to what all can be removed from our 7th gen Maximas to save some much need weight? I mean I looked inside of my still smelling like brand new car the other day and thought to myself... damn it's already empty lol. But I don't know much about weight reduction. I can only think of the obvious which would be the spare tire (I recently added roadside assistance in case of a flat). But how about everybody else?

What have you done or can we do to our cars to reduce weight? And keep most available functions? Has anybody looked into taking the AC out? Power steering, any of those things? Can I remove my passenger seat? What about the rears? Anything would help!

Not a all practical nor something I would ever do myself but keep your tank at no more than 1/4 full at all times. Your local gas station attendant will see you everyday/other day and think you're insane.
I totally understand your thinking on weight as I've done this in the past to a car that saw track use but I bought this car for comfort, and for me this is not the kind of car to start yanking out the features that I wanted in the first place.

I removed my spare as well, but i have a pump and a can of slime sealant in case i get a flat. I'm not sure how much the stock battery weighs but usually lower capacity batteries (440CCA) weigh around 28 pounds whereas the higher capacity batteries (850CCA) weigh in excess of 50 pounds so that is an option. You could also go lithium and get a battery that weighs less than 10 pounds but its super expensive. I removed my 6 deck cd changer as part of my nexus install but that is probably less than 5 pounds of weight. You could remove some of the excess floor mats if you have them (i have both carpet and rubber mats). If you have 19 inch rims, you can downgrade to 18 inch as they are lighter. If you don't care about the low end of the sound system, you can easily remove the rear subwoofers & amp. You could also remove your front two seats and replace them with racing seats but they won't be very comfortable for long trips.

You can remove the rear seats since It seems you dont use them. You really want that eyesore in your new car? The weight of the car is up Front so you might need a RSB so the back wont go out.

anyway, on a 3600 pound car shaving a few pounds off body weight is not gona be noticeable. removing the spare tire on my last max caused a big hole in the middle of my trunk. On this car I think not.

You're right. Daily drive, small weight reductions won't help much. Maybe 1-2mpgs at most if you can manage 20-50lbs weight reduction. In the track/quarter-mile, 10lbs can make a difference, shaving fractions of a second off your time.

Of course, we're not all tracking our boats...

So the old drag racers rule of thumb was loose 100lb gain a tenth second. Not by any means a hard and fast rule as there's a ton of scenarios involved.
