Talking Newbie, 7thGen 2010 Maxima

Whats up everyone, I have had my 2010 Maxima SV Prem/Tech package for a couple years now. I am new to doing mods and upgrades. I have some ideas listed below for what I want to do but I am open to any suggestions. I have already tinted her out. She is pearl white with the panoramic roof. I have also de-badged the trunk.

1. Borla Cat Back Exhaust
2. Weapon R Intake
3. EBC Slotted Rotors Front/Rear
4. EBC Race Brakes

and I just ordered new foglights. A freind recommended CarID.com and thats where I have seen these items

Welcome to the .Org! I have the same Max in a 2012 model year. Most people would tell you to first drop your Max and then get DRL's and then vinyl wrap your chrome exterior trim and then add a spoiler but you just do what you want to do to make your ride stand out. Ideas will come the more you visit the site.

I was thinking of changing my rotors out but still am on the fence and there are other mods that are taking priority when the summer comes.

As far as the Borla here is a thread about that muffler:

Welcome! Those 4 mods will be great. If you're looking for suggestions, I have 3 (and honestly, I personally would do these 3 first if I had it to do over again):
1) eibachs lowering springs
2) stillen front lip spoiler
3) stillen rear sway bar
Go at your own pace though man, and do whichever you think you'll like first! Come back and post pics as you get going!

Oh okay. I think you should probably still ask some of the guys in there if they would know. Since they are talking about the tips, they may know someone with or have some experience with of the full system! Good luck.

Is it REALLY a huge improvement? I'm seriously seriously considering this but I want know if it's truly worth it!

+1

I can get behind that as far as the first three mods to start; obviously you can go a million different ways but you're talking about on or around $1K for all three (including prep/painted front lip spoiler and eibach springs and RSB installed. To the OP: yes, the rear sway bar does make a huge difference and an even bigger difference if the car is lowered as well

Welcome! I'm in the same boat just took a different route. 14' Pearl White SV man we're like brothers! But I dipped my wheels black first. Then got a black billet grill which is what really gives my car it's character imo. Just got her back and the shop added 35% tint and did the custom tail light tint too. Debadged Maxima of course. She looks good!
My next plan was getting some custom painted and double halo headlights done from some .Orger and be done with the look for now. My sway bar and front strut have been order from Stillen over a month. They told me material were on back order till 5/20 and 6/20. And now I'm looking into exhaust. It's only been... 2 months maybe? I'd say it's an addiction.

Great ideas all around. Keep us updated and would love some pictures when you do!

Ahhh you got the one before me! Ahaha small world eh? Yeah I considered both but I was also buying the front strut and front lip from Stillen, figured why not do 'em all. They didn't alert me of the problem until a week after I had ordered too. Idk if that's normal.

Regardless, I'm in no rush to install. I'm going to read around and see how hard it would be do install myself as I'm just getting a real life idea on how shops labor rates can rape my bank. I have hands and a brain, I'll try n figure it out.

The rear sway bar is straight forward and easy to do. You will be happy once you install it along with your other goodies! Small world , yes it is. have fun with modding and post up some pics of the strut tower brace Sorry OP, did not mean to thread jack.

We gotta see that chrome dipped! Pics please! Been thinking about doing my handles white, and the trim black. Until somebody mentioned a black chrome? I forget where I read it, but I think a black chrome would be perfect for me as I'm not looking to make every little detail plain black n white ya know. Let us know how the process was and the final product!

Ooo solid work my friend. Looks good. Did you remove or just tape off the area? And how many layers do you tend to do on anything you dip?

I like the originality, but to me it looks like a Hitler-stache. Maybe body colored would look better?

I removed it, and I did 4 layers I applied each layer every 30 minutes and after the last layer I let it dry for 4 hrs before putting it back on

Another suggestion: because the pano roof and the tint are shiny/glossy looking you can:
1.) remove the trunk strip again
2.) wet sand it down with 400 grit super-fine sandpaper (do a real good job, b/c as u know the key to a successful job is mostly in the prep work)
3.) wipe it down with alcohol wipes (medical ones or ones you wipe your hands with or you can use a bottle and cloth, etc)
4.) two light coats of primer
three-four light coats of paint
three-four light coats of clear gloss

Bingo-bango now you're done and done.

I used these products when I did my front grille surround and front Nissan emblem:

It came out GREAT; the only issue was that with dirt/rocks/bugs that were kicked up ended up chipping the paint from time to time and it was just a bítch to keep up, so I ended up redoing the whole thing with plasti-dip and so far, so good! It's been about 2 months now, so that's a good sign.

You're not gonna have to worry about the issues I had because it's the trunk strip, so as long as you're careful opening and closing the trunk it'll stay mint.

Good luck. Car looks great by the way!

It looks good, but I like the matte black look rather than glossing it

I do like both but the matte for some reason is quite appealing.

How many cans of plastidip did you use for the front grille?

Did you use any other product or just plastidips?

And do you have to leave it off the car to dry it or you can just put it back after youre done plastidipping ?

Window trim is looking good! I see people are trying it out more with the plasti-dip as opposed to getting it wrapped or painted. I think that's pushing me to do mine. That window trim with the tint just looks so good. Keep up the awesome work brotha!
