unlock when shift to park?
unlock when shift to park?
Well I got a 2013 Maxima S and I love it but I hate what when my car goes over about 20mph and locks I cant shift my car to park for it to unlock. Is there a way I can program it to unlock when I shift to park rather than turning my ignition off? Thanks guys!
Yes, it's in your owners manual. Take some time and look it up.
The owner's manual makes no mention of how to get the vehicle to unlock the vehicle when the transmission is put into Park. It only mentions that the doors can be unlocked when the ignition is in the OFF position, and how to deactivate or (re)activate this feature.
Playing devil's advocate here and I have found that this feature is safer despite my previous car unlocking automatically when put into Park. You never know who was scoping you out after you've parked or while you were distracted.

There is a way to program the Park to unlock feature but it has to be done at the dealer with a laptop.

My bad, your statement is correct!

As Johnnyru mentioned, you have to go to the dealer and ask them to change this setting using their Consult 3. I did it a while back and the dealership didn't give me any problems. After the reprogram, i also noticed that i only needed to press the unlock button on the door handle once to unlock all doors... i believe the default setting is once to unlock that door and again to unlock all doors.
