I don't know why this bugs me so much, but I don't like the position of the wipers. They don't rest at the bottom of the windshield. Can they be adjusted?

 

Yes, these can be adjusted, but if your car has not been in any accident or had the windshield replaced, I don't know if this will be what you want?

The wipers arms are clamped to posts, with a nut that keeps the arm pressed against the spline of the post. If you remove the plastic trim piece on the arm, you'll see the nut. Undo this nut for both sides.

Place a small drop of White-Out on the post to wiper arm junction - under that nut you just removed (I'll explain later)

Carefully lever the arm off the post - don't lever against the windshield )

Once the arm comes off, reposition it to the next distinct serration of the spline and see if it lays better than you had before. If it's still not where you want it, re-install the arm to the same location as it was before removal (now you know why the White Out is recommended) and install the nut and tighten to spec. DO NOT ATTEMPT to create your own spline pattern by crushing the existing spline - this is total BS and you'll have a big repair bill or weather related accident down the road.

Keep in mind that if you lower the arm at it's bottom resting point, it will also lower the uppermost point of the wiper sweep. Raise the wiper and you will risk hitting the driver side A pillar. Life's like that eh?

If your attempt fails, and you are still annoyed...go to new car dealer and trade in your car.

 

I can't even see the wipers most of the time unless I purposely look at them. They seem to rest at the bottom of the windshield.

Put a strip of ultra dark tint at the bottom of the windshield to hide the wipers like Honda does on their Accord windshields!

 

Perfect timing for this topic, as I did just have my windshield replaced and the tech re-installed the driver side blade just a notch (or maybe two) counter-clockwise. The result is that the blade does not go fully perpendicular nor become fully parallel with the pillar.

I could live with it but it has been bugging me and like all things with this car I want it perfect.

Your advice to use some white-out to mark the starting position is brilliant KGM.. Thank you.

 

What brand of blades does everyone use and why?

I changed mine out to Bosch Icons and they work so much better than the stock wiper blades. I did some research before I purchased the Icons as well. My max was a left over 2012 model that I bought in 2013 and from the first time I used the stock wipers I was so disappointed, because they smeared so much. The Icons are more exspensive, but they are well worth it and they are supposed to last like 30-40% longer than standard blades.
After I installed the icons my max seemed so much nicer when it rained or I used them to clear the winshield.
