Axxess ASWC-1 Maxima Help

Hi guys I just installed a New Kenwood DDX771 in my 2010 Maxima, It has a standard radio no Nav or Bose, Anyways I was wondering if anyone has installed this into their maxima because I am having problems getting it to work, here's the instructions.

1) Connect the Black wire of the ASWC to ground. You may use the same grounding point as the aftermarket radio.

(I used the same ground as the radio)

2) Connect the Red wire of the ASWC to a 12 volt accessory wire, one that turns on and off with the ignition key.

(Used the same as the radio)

3) Connect the Gray/Red wire of the ASWC to pin 6 of the vehicle.

( Spliced into the harness for that wire )

4) Connect the Gray/Blue wire of the ASWC to pin 16 of the vehicle.

( Spliced into the harness for that wire )

5) Connect pin 15 of the vehicles harness to Ground.

( there is nothing in that pin )

6) All other wires on the ASWC please tape up, they will not be used.

On step 5 I don't understand why it wants me to ground it when there is nothing there.

Any help is welcome thanks guys.

I'm no electrical engineer but I'm guessing it has something to do with the DC circuit for the steering wheel controls. Just splice two wires off the the black wire coming from the Axxess and form a Y. Connect one to the black wire of the stereo and one to the Pin 15 wire. You have to do the same the for the PACs.
