What DON'T you like about your 7th gen.
I don't like the wiper blades that came with my 2014 Maxima, way too streaky.
My 2010 wipers were the same way...crap. Maybe it'll take a whole new gen for Nissan to get some of these things right...or maybe not?

Top three:
1 - Brakes - Weak.
2 - Battery - Currently the third battery in the car and soon to be fourth.
3 - Wipers - At least the OEM wipers were replaced at the 30k service. The new ones have a regular frame.
I don't like the wiper blades that came with my 2014 Maxima, way too streaky. Wish I never bought the damn thing!!!!!!! To be serious, the car has a lot going for it. That is why most of us bought our 7th Gens. But if you go through this forum you will see that there is also no lack of issues with the vehicle. Maybe there is a reason why many of us got a great deal on the car. Way below MSRP. If the vehicle is so desirable the dealers would not discount it so heavily. Don't you think? For what I paid for the vehicle I am pretty happy. If I had paid anywhere near MSRP I would be pretty disappointed.[/QUOTE
Agreed. The price is exceptional. The price is also driving these later models in an old gen since the new one will come out late next year for the 2016 model year.

I'm not familiar with the gas struts or whatever they are but ever since day one of ownership of this car, the hissing sound from the struts compressing has been the most annoying thing...the slightest imperfections, hiss hiss hiss....
Other then that this car has been good to me, I got minor complaints also like doors closing on you, and a few rattles in the cabin, but nothing that has made me regret my purchase

I actually like the fact that the headlights or parking lights don't come on automatically during the day for DRLs. If Nissan integrated a cool looking LED strip in the headlights like they did on the Infiniti Q50, then I would be all for that.
Agreed. Drl's suck but a led strip would be sweet.
Sweet Jesus what are u used to driving before this? They are not weak at all man take a ride with me sometime I'll show ya. This and my rx8 are the only cars I've never warped the rotors on and I promise u I'll scare the crap out of ya with my driving.
Brakes are weak?

Brake discs being warped is such a subjective thing since it really depends on driving style and severe temp changes. I believe these brakes are better than either of my 6th gen's were. Lastly, braking efficiency and brakes having structural or build issues are two different issues entirely. I have driven plenty of new cars and the brakes to me feeling tight, progressive and well modulated as pedal travel and feel goes. Only little thing is the retardation or engine braking you feel a little bit as you slow and maybe the torque converter at the end of stopping. These are solid brakes!

Although mine are aftermarket drilled & slotted rotors w/ ceramic pads on my current Max when I had my 09 they were stock and I would do a cycle once a month on the highway on the way home from hockey when it was basically just me on the road and I never had any issues, not a one & I still do it with my current set to this day
Although there are many variables that come into play for warped rotors, I'm in RI & you're in MA so we're subject to the same weather conditions
Hope that helps if you don't do so already broseph

Heat cycle once a month, boom done and done.

Let's see..
I don't like that it's a dealer queen. I've got over an inch of paperwork in less than 45K miles and I've been through at least a dozen rental cars.
Brakes are mediocre and I've already replaced the rotors, and they're already warped again despite babying them. Engine is torque-limited below 40 MPH. Throttle gets confused if you punch it at slow speeds; you end up accelerating slower and the transmission takes forever to wind up. That's caused a couple of almost-accidents.
I don't like that my engine makes a terrible, nasty whirring sound above 3000 RPM after it warms up, that the dealer won't fix because "it doesn't appear in normal driving." I don't like the number of creaks and rattles from the suspension.
In short, I don't like that it's a pretend-sports car. In actuality, it's an average chassis with too much power, and none of the running gear can take aggressive (road) driving with any consistency. If you push it, it will fall apart. Hence, while I love the styling and the general feel, I'm likely to trade it for something where '290HP' isn't just a number to brag about.

I think it's a well made durable kick *** car.
Pretend sports car. Lol. Sad man.
Go waste 50 grand for something "better" then. Good luck.
The previous poster was right. This is not a true sports car. This is a sporty sedan with a cvt. Take it to a track and see what happens after a few runs. Limp mode.
The reason I got one was quote in the Maxima 3 way comparison last year with Hyundai and Toyota. "Feels like an muscle car." So if you got one with a good build (not built on a friday) and like it for what it is its actually a nice car.

The 2012 Maxima is a commuting car driven by my GF and we have no complaints with it. We had 2007 and put 91,000 on it before getting the 2012.As long as the satellite, Bluetooth, NAV all work we are happy with the car. I change the syn oil/filter every 5,000 miles and car has 51,000 on the odometer.
When she retires in late 2015, a MB SL550 may be in the game plan in place of the 2012 Maxima.

I don't know why they market it as a 4SDC i don't see it as one but the way i see it, my wife LOVES the car and as long she loves it I love it, with all its things we love and don't love about the car. The car for out weighs with the good than the bad IMO.
I've never owned a car that was perfect, every car has something that doesn't suit perfectly. In the case of my 2010 SV with 54k on it, I have only a few...
#1 - I have the panoramic sunroof and I hate it. Wind noise when open is totally unacceptable. the little pop-up wind deflector is useless, made of perforated material, it's too short and does NOTHING to reduce the wind noise. Also, when closed, as it is most of the time, see above, there is a constant rattle in the rails that the dealer greased last time and that helped for a few weeks.....
#2 - Wind noise from open windows. I can't describe what the wind does to the sound in the back of my car when travelling at 40mph with the rear windows open and the sound system on. But if you have a 7th gen, I don't need to tell you.
#3 - Front end shimy, they are telling me the wheels are out of balance. May not be the fault of the car.....
#4 - the location of some of the switches. Two problems here. On the left side, on the bottom of the dash are controls for mirrors, trunk opening, steering wheel heater, and disabling of traction control. What a PIA to reach these, and you can't see them, and I just hate what is done in the name of style.....The other location is the front of the console, in front of the shifter, under the climate control switches are switches for the seat heaters, seat A/C (seriously why only the drivers side?????), and the rear window screen. Again, hard to reach, and the seat heaters have like 27 notches for various levels of heat and cold, and I can never remember which way is cold and which is hot so I have to experiment (and there is nothing in the owners manual to help on these).
#5 Steering wheel radio controls. Is it just me, or is volume control the most important control on the steering whel for the radio? If so, why is it so small and poorly placed? The paddle to control the selection SHOULD be the up down volume control like it is in my Land Rover.
#6 I am also not fond of the door locks not opening when you stop.
As the other guy above said, this isn't a b1tchfest, I do love this car, but the 6 items above stand between it being awesome and it being incredibly great.

I have had issues with the tires from Day 1. Thats my ONLY complaint about this car. I have made too many runs to the tire place for leaking tires, and like I said had two front replaced and the car only has 28k miles on it, first replacement was like 12k into ownership. Had a leaker in the back right last month, and the front right is again low. They dont always leak air to the point of being flat, but they get down to 20-22psi and then i fill them up...few weeks later back to 20-22psi. I wish I had written more down about this issue, but I haven't. I just get it patched and then its fine for months at a time. Anyone else have this type tire issue with the max? Friend of mine thinks it could be the wheels themselves are slighlty bent from potholes and it causes leaks more often.
Didn't like the DSG relative to the CVT, the weak acceleration, the nervous ride, the lack of traction off the line, the at-the-limit squirm of the stock tires, and the fact that the extending sun visor doesn't cover the entire length of the driver's window.
Did like the interior layout and materials (except the lack of armrests), the low-RPM torque, the suspension damping, the fold-down rear seat, the transient responses, and highway stability.
It'd be a fun car with a stick, but I didn't lust after it. The Maxima is a better car in aggregate to me.
The next thought was a used BMW 135i, until I discovered they didn't cost any less than a used 335i. Now I'm looking at 335i sedans with a stick and Sport. They're not track cars (neither is the M3, really; brakes and cooling, again), but on the road, they're legit sports cars that would hold up to my occasional amusement.
Right now, the priority is to get a different dealer to fix my car. If the engine works right, I might well keep it. The looming cost on the horizon is $900 for tires; hence my interest in deciding if I want to keep on this train.
I've got sv model 2010 and the only thing I don't like is the CVT transmission .. The engine has hp but it doesn't match up with it .. If the 7th gen came with a 5 speed transmission , this car would have been a monster just being stock .. That's the only thing holding it back

I don't like how when I shut my sunroof once in a while the sun shades close with it even tho I didn't hit or hold the close button long enough to make them close. I have the panoramic roof obviously. My car is garage kept and parked in shade at work so I prefer to leave the sun shades open always. I'm a bit claustrophobic.
Other than that it's **** on a Ritz.

I met a guy that his father owns a race shop , he told me that he dropped a manual transmission in the 7th gen max .. He said that they ran the harness and computer of a 6th gen to get it working ... He said its a totally different animal ... There tweeting the car and making a center consol where stick is .. He will be running it @ Englishtown NJ ... When there done he will join this website and post what they did

Don't get me wrong the 7th gen got some ***** with HP only if the car is rolling@ 50mph and you hit the gas it goes up to 80/100 mph in seconds .. 0-60 it sucks , she screams like a ***** .. Not for a drag race... I love the design but the trans kills it .. Many people switched to EVO's ... GTR cost to much money .. $100k .. A vw bug turbo beats the GTR .. Check out street outlaws ... All the new technology that nissan has the old ones beats them ..
is it me or it had the cheapest looking and touching key FOB on the streets of America? The dude who decided to put my 40 000 MSRP key in this ugly plastic little piece of **** should be fired immediately. I can honestly design a better looking key in my lunch break with nothing but windows paint. And that ugly silver color for the buttons? In what world is this not super tacky?
If anybody knows of a way to use an aftermarket key FOB please post.
