loss of engine power with lights on

ok, so I've had an extreme loss of power to the engine. When I fully accelerate, it doesn't kick you back like it normally does, it slowly gets up, and it's very slow. My cruise won't work when it is acting like that and my traction control and vdc light comes on. It seems to happen when I have my headlights on. When I turn my lights off, I get my power back and cruise works. Any idea what that would be?

not sure but it may be time for a new battery. You can take it to any auto parts store and they will test it for free.

Yeah its charging system related. Get battery checked for free before taking to dealer. What year is the car?

Yeah it sounds like a bad battery. Get it checked as soon as you can before you get stranded or something.

Either battery or alternator. Go to AutoZone and get it checked out, the battery should be putting out between 13 or 14 volts.
