Windshield Wipers turn on by themselves

Anyone ever experienced this before?
Im sitting parked waiting for my 9am train playing on my phone and all of a sudden my wipers turn on even though my hands were nowhere near the switch.

What position was the start button in? ACC, On, or was the engine running?

I've thought about it and can't come up with a logical reason for them to come on without input from you.

We need more info.

Was your engine running?

If no, then was the switch in the ACC position?

Did the wipers come on in the fast, regular or intermittent setting?

If in the intermittent setting, approximately how many seconds between sweeps?

Did you buy the car new?

Have you made any alterations, expecially electrical ones?

Have you ever had any repairs made to this car?

If you bought the car used, have you noticed any indications that previous owner(s) may have made any alterations?

Has this ever happened to you before?

Any chance the wiper control stalk was not totally in the off position, but sort of on the ridge between off and intermittent, then fell off the bump into the intermittent position?

Have you ever had any indication you may have telekinetic powers? Can you bend a spoon with your mind?

OK, ignore the last question. Answers to the other questions may help us help you.

Nope. I bought the car new. Never did any electrical mods to it aside from replacing the OEM battery with a Yellowtop. The engine was idling but the switch was in the off position. Its done it in the past, but its never consistent last time it did it was 6 months ago or so. They'll sometimes turn on once or twice and then just stop. I cant figure it out because sometimes Im driving others Im stopped.
Not a huge problem but was just wondering if anyone else has had it happen.
Bizzare.
