2009 Maxima Vibration

Anyone had issues with this? Vibration comes and goes. Feel like tires or drivetrain. Sometimes vibrates at all speeds, sometimes not at all. Have new tires, balanced twice, new rotors. Just purchased car, but would like some thoughts on what to check next.

Vibration happens at all speeds, most noticeable during acceleration. Bought car recently and had brand new Firestone tires. Car is fine for days, and suddenly vibration starts. Vibration not real bad, just enough to be annoying. Have had at 2 dealerships and they could not replicate the problem. Have had tires balanced twice, and replaced 2 wheels with slight damage. Today had vibration at all speeds, took car to 110 MPH, and vibration stopped. Vibration no longer at any speed. I know it will come back, maybe not tomorrow, but the next day for sure. Put on new brake rotors and had car aligned. Still the same issue.

Do you feel it in your seat, or through the swearing wheel?

Problem sounds a like a cross between a motor mount going bad, an axle, and a slightly sticking caliper.

When it is happening (sometimes not at all) you can feel it in the seat, the throttle pedal and the steering wheel. If it happened all the time, it would be easier to diagnose. But is comes and goes, sometimes for days at a time.

I'm sure this isn't it, I feel dumb even suggesting it... But you don't happen to live in a snowy area, do you? I had some abnormal vibration that just ended up being ice in the wheels...

I do live in an area that can have ice and snow, but we have not had any this year. Car is kept in a heated garage, so if that does happen, it melts over night. Thanks for the suggestion.

Ive been though this with my previous car. Road force balance and inspect tires, check axles and wheel bearings. If you just bought it from a dealer take it back and let them know.

Did you notice any vibrations before the new tires and rotors were installed?

The tires were new and on the car when I purchased it. The brake rotors were changed in an attempt to get rid of the vibration. They did not make a difference at all.

Have new tires, balanced twice
I've got another stupid question myself, were they balanced twice at the same shop?

I had an issue and despite being balanced a second time, i got them balanced a third time at a different shop. Mechanic even had machine calibrated between first and second balancing, but i was certain it was still off and the final time i had them balanced, technician said they were definitely off.

Good point: It was the same shop. I will try a different place to have them balanced. I don't know any place locally that does road force balancing, but would like to try that next.

Try this, a bit more expensive than a normal balance but its worth it if you are having trouble. My local guy will remount a tire to reduce weights added to the rim.

I would like to know as well. I just switched back to my stock rims and had an alignment and I have been having similar issues since. I have been back to the same shop twice, had the alignment checked and the wheel balance checked, everything looked good apparently. I might take it to another shop for a second opinion, but I would like to know if and how you got this fixed.

Had the exact same problem with my wife's Maxima. Bought new tires and the problem kept happening. Had it aligned, still happened. Spent $70 and a couple hours replacing the front hub and it's like a new car!

Click on the link. Its a pretty easy fix.

Having similar issues with a 2010 I just purchased. I thought an alignment and wheel balance would solve the issue, but after getting an alignment and wheel balance this weekend, the shaking is actually WORSE- starting at about 40 mph....
