2015 Maxima

So I only see the 2014 model listed on nissanusa site. Does that mean nissan is trying to clear out remaining inventory and there is no such thing as a 2015 model?

Yes. They are bypassing the 2015 model year and just keeping the 2014 until this summer/fall when the new 2016 8th gens will most likely be released.

Correct, which is why this forum should list the 7th gen as 2014 not 2015

So if someone is trying to sell a 2015 Maxima, they are blowing smoke, huh?

Do manufacturers typically just skip a year? It seems really bizarre to me for Nissan to skip from the 2014 model to the 2016 and just forget 2015 model-year.

Is that odd or a typical thing?

Late,
Trav

The 2015 Maxima is suppose to be the new gen model word on the street is that the Altima Transmission issues caused them to push the 8th gen back and name it the '16 model. No nissan does not typically skip years this is the 1st time i've seen them do this for the Maxima.

Manufacturers do sometimes skip a year.
For example, there isn't a 1983 Chevrolet Corvette.

Yep. 2015 will be the first year with no model of the Maxima since Nissan introduced the 1981 model year Datsun Maxima in fall of 1980.

Interesting facts (already known by most here):

The first generation Maxima (1981-1984) was RWD, and had a diesel option.

The 1984 Maxima (last year of the 1st gen) was the only model year that had both the words 'Nissan' and 'Datsun' on the rear.

The first model year of the 2nd gen was 1985, which was the first FWD Maxima. The 1985 Maxima had the 'Z' engine mounted sideways in the engine compartment, leaving a dificult situation for those trying to change the oil filter, up against the wall separating the engine compartment from the passenger compartment.

I got really good at changing that filter on my 86.
