looking to buy new max. (Advice?)

New member here looking to buy a used 7th Gen VERY soon but I need a bit of help. (Also a college student so on a budget). I'm stuck between twould maximas. The first one is a black sv with sport package and an amber screen. http://safeenmotors.com/2011-Nissan-...4/Details.aspx

My second choice is a silver sv with monitor package http://safeenmotors.com/2011-Nissan-...3/Details.aspx

the silver one is a bit cheaper and has a backup cam as well as the color screen....but it looks so plain and boring. Even the color is boring IMO. (No offense to those with silver maxs)

The black one is a little more expensive and it looks amazing, especially with the sport wheels. However it has the amber screen so no backup camera or tech goodies....but it looks so good!!

Any advice guys?

I agree black is amazing as long as you have the time and energy to keep it looking that way.

Silver can be upgrades with wheels and such. I look at what you want and miles vs options vs price. Also what can you live without and not live without. Good luck and make sure you get a couple of K off no matter what.

Just make sure the vehicle does not come equipped with this.

There are a bunch of things to consider when purchasing one of these Max's.
Make sure drivers seat mounting is solid. The seats have an issue with rocking/looseness.
Make sure turn signals in mirrors function. They get condensation in them and then stop functioning.
Make sure rear signal lights do not have condensation in them.
Check to see if the car has halogen headlights. If so, they are woefully inadequate on low beam. HID option is much better.
I'm sure that there are other things to watch out for.

My advice is to keep looking. There are more Max's out there to choose from and after the 8th gen comes out there will probably be many many more used 7th gen's on the lots. For me the worst decision has been to make concessions and buy a car that is not exactly what I want --thinking I could accept that for the price.... But I could never stop thinking about finding the right one and ultimately dumped the less than perfect car far before I normally would have. Keep lookin'.

Keep looking around to see if you could find a black one with more of the things you want. Black is a great color on this car. I wasn't even considering the silver until I saw the one with the Premium Package...the black panel roof did it for me, nice contrast.

Well for starters color is subjective. I had a choice of any color they made and choose Silver with no regrets. I would buy the one with lowest miles and the best price.

I also have a black BMW and love the color. As far as the choice between the two, I like the sport package as it greatly increases the handling and ride qualities. Drive them both and feel the difference.

I like having a backup camera, especially with the predictive path, but it's not necessary on this car like it was with my Tundra. As for the color screen, someone on here actually installed an android based tablet in place of their amber screen and it looks really cool; looks almost factory. Probably could do that relatively easily. If you don't mind doing without the camera and don't plan on changing the 19in sport model wheels anytime soon I might go with that one since you seem to like it that much better. Just depends on what you're willing to sacrifice. Great car either way. Other than that small rattle issue that has since been resolved I genuinely love how these cars handle and drive. Very fun but also practical. Good luck!
