Caliper Covers

Caliper Covers
Everyone, I currently own a 7th Gen Maxima. My calipers are definitely showing signs of winter snow/salt abuse. A friend of mine suggested I get caliper covers rather than painting them due to the amount of snow/salt that gets on them each winter. The covers will protect more efficiently and look sharp during the spring/summer months. What are your opinions and do you have any suggestions for a solid and reputable caliper cover company? I know nothing about aftermarket parts and work in a corporate area of Milwaukee so I don't need to attract unwanted attention. I just want something clean, solid, professional. Thank you in advance!

Paint them bro....
I considered the "fake me outs" once. That's what I call them. Then thought with all the people passing by could clown me because they were fake and decided I'd rather take the time to paint the calipers. So I'm with everyone else so far, paint them. You'll get that more of an appreciation of the work you did to make your car look good lol.

MGP Caliper Covers
I have the MGP Caliper Covers ... I like how they look on the car behind my wheels.... My Mechanics said they were complimentary to the car... I suppose it depends on the look you want for your car?

I have to agree with the paint, I painted mine and once considered the covers. Thank god, I see some nice cars in my area with them and I just say why. People who do it, it's your car so as long as your happy that's all that matters. Just personal opinion it looks cheap

For sure go with painting. I did to, and I looked for covers too, but srsly they look very cheap on our cars...it`s not a honda civic 2000...or some bucket.
I painted with caliper paints, there is a caliper paint kit and it`s good, have painted 2yrs a go in canadas weather.

Thanks all for your response and opinions. I agree painting them will look a lot better, especially choosing a silver or black color. Can I basically go to an implement store and find the paint or do you have any personal suggestions for caliper paint? Thanks again I really appreciate the help!

Make sure you get High Temperature paint, but I don't know what brands to get.

You can use ANY kind of color or paint you want if you buy high temp primer and clear.
High temp caliper paint only comes in five or so diffrent colors, if you want black ,silver or red no problem but for anyone else wanting a more exotic color it can be done as long as you get the high temp primer and high temp clearcoat.

thats what i used and it came out great. brake fluid will eat it off even if you clear and bake if you let it stay on there more than a few minutes. however, if you get an art brush and touch it up as needed it holds up very nice.

Is this what you guys are referring to? They have several colors it looks like.

Just prep properly and be careful when you are putting wheels on and servicing brakes so they don't get nicked up or the pant get's removed by brake fluid drips from some shop monkey. If you don't do your own brake/suspension work, they will take a hit at some point because those dipsh*ts are truly careless at some of these shops. The paint looks really nice and holds up well.

Great Info
Thanks for the post. I just bought 2014 SV sport pearl with graphite rims so i want red calipers. I wasn't sure about the covers but i'm convinced now not to do it. What really want is high performance brakes (e.g. brembo) but i've been searching for weeks and no luck. I see VW's with them but i can't find for a maxima. Once i can post a tread i will do so concerning performance brakes and what fits/works with the maxima. For now i'm going to paint.
