OEM or other front strut assembly needed

Howdy,

Just recently came into possession of a 2009 Maxima S. The suspension is completely spent and I need to replace front/rear struts/shocks. I'm just looking to keep it as OEM as possible, and have the rear shocks already.

I am wondering if there's anywhere that sells the front strut assembly as a "package" (strut, springs, etc) already assembled. I've searched this board, my local parts stores, and a few online places, but all seem to only have the strut itself which would require me to get a spring compressor. I'll do it the "hard way" if I have to but would rather pay extra to get a 'plug and play' strut assembly if possible.

Thanks!

Thanks. I did look at rock auto. The only thing they have listed is the strut itself. I had seen a youtube video of a guy replacing struts and the replacement came as an assembly, but it was for an earlier generation Maxima. Was hoping there was a similar product for the 7th gen. Not looking good so far....

I don't know if anybody has a full spring and strut replacement but I will dig around a bit more and get back to you. Sorry Joe but I am not finding anything as far as a plug and play setup. You could take your struts off and take it to a local Firestone to compress the springs for you. Have them swap out the springs onto the new strut? Good luck bud and let us know what happens.

I really appreciate the effort! I went ahead and ordered the shocks/struts from rock auto, and will give the reassembly a shot, with a shop as a backup if it comes to that...saw some 'horror' stories about getting that top nut off.

One other question, on the rear shocks, is the top of those accessed through the trunk? Do you just have to remove the carpet lining on the sides on the trunk to get access to them?

Thanks!!

You got two options, rent a spring compressor from autozone for free and do it yourself or bring it to a shop as stated above, have them place the springs for you, then install yourself

Thanks Tommy, that's my game plan. As long as I can get the bolts/nuts/etc loose, I'm fairly confident I can do the job with borrowing a spring compressor from autozone.

Any insight as to where I access the top of the rear shocks? (underneath carpeted walls in the trunk?)

I would assume that is where to gain access to the top of the shock.

you access them thru underneath. Take the wheels off and look on the underside you should have (2) bolts to take off. hope that helps...
