Resolution of the Maxima 7" Screen

Anyone know this? I could start counting my pixels, but google not any other source had the info....

I'm starting up a project that could benefit everyone on the forums. would be appreciated if some knew or could help me out.

I cant release what it is yet, but I think its a nice middle ground for those of you without NAV and want it.

I want a working prototype before I start claiming the impossible, and as we all know shipping from China love to take its time.

Any help would be awesome.

Updates!!! - - Success

This is for those people that want gps functionality on their nissan's with monitor package -- I'm guessing that in the end it would come out to around 200 USD which isn't that much considering aftermarket starts at 600 minimum. Also with the HDMI2AV you can even hook your phone up and at least see where what your buddy's phone see's and or anticipate a turn because hes busy with something else, etc.

PART LIST
Android Stick MK809IV = 40USD
HDMI2AV Mini = 10USD
Cigarette Lighter Adapter = 10-20USD (2.1A x 2) [Although a 2.1A+1.0A will work too, MK809IV @ 2.1A]

RUNNING TOTAL: 60-70USD

INFO
ALL FACTORY FUNCTIONS are preserved!
Factory Screen Running at 420x240 @ 125DPI [Will see if I can get it a little smaller once I buy Nova Paid]
You need to root the android
Bypass needed [obvious if you want to change station etc]
Can choose your own car launchers many available I used Nova and Increased Grid, Icon Size, etc.
Touch Screen [When I get more cash - donations accepted :)]
UTC controller needed as well [4.4.2 compatible resistive touchscreen USB adapter]
Joycon Controller [will interface buttons to perform android functions [tune-in radio, etc, probably will intergrate the 'wheel' as well]
GPS BT USB & USB Hub

Ok No worries, I have since solved question above looks like a 320 x 240 native.

Can anyone tell me when to find the 2012 AV section of the FSM? 2010 doesn't really match up :(

mikekay 07-02-2015 06:02 AM

Well I will work with the 2010 AV section and try and peice together the changes.

Might be more than 320 x 240 on looking closer, but I doubt its 640x480 the pixel density would point to a much clearer screen, I might run a video thats interlaced at certain resolutions to see whats actually going on.

Not sure of the resolution, but it's a lot better than the one in my sister's Camry or our new GLI.

So i took a picture of the ruler, against a maxima monitor, counted roughly 20 pixels/1/4"x4 = 80px/inch

[width] 15.5cm active area/2.54 = 6.10236" * 80 = 488.188
[height] 8.7cm active area/2.54 = 3.425" * 80 = 274

therefore 488.188 ~ 480,
and 274 ~ 270

So non-nav screen native resolution @ 16:9 = 480 * 270

Your project has me thinking now, I have Apple TV that we don't use anymore in the house. I wonder if it would work with the factory unit. I'm gonna have to buy the hdmi-av composite wire to try. Tether the Apple TV to my phone and be able to air play. I don't see myself using it all the time, but be nice for road trips with passengers

anything HDMI will looks weird, you have to be able to control the resolution, dropping it down to 720*480 looks better, if you buy the android stick you cant copy all your movies to a disk and run it in KODI :) Also depends on the refresh rate, read the reviews some people said no go with xbox etc. I know for a FACT though our car can only support 60hz, not 50hz!

Let me know if you need any help or want to donate to the testing of the rest of the project haha :)

I got it working with an iPhone. Didn't need to mess with any resolutions stuff or anything, just plugged it in and it worked.

Here's my write up.
